Corsair Readies Hydro H100i Pro Cooler with Zero RPM Fan Mode

Corsair is giving finishing touches to the Hydro H100i Pro, an all-in-one liquid CPU cooler designed to one-up the Hydro H100i series. Its USP is the "zero RPM fan mode," in which a fan-controller integrated with the pump-block turns off the fans when the coolant is below a temperature threshold. Corsair believes this could help most gamers overcome their biggest gripe with liquid cooling - that the fans keep running.

The pump-block of the H100i Pro looks similar to the H100i, with its silver-finish octagonal shape, and RGB LED ornament that can be controlled by Corsair iCue software. A pair of ML120 fans are included with this cooler, to ventilate the 240 mm x 120 mm radiator. Each of these fans spin between 400 to 2,400 RPM, pushing up to 75 CFM of air, with a noise output up to 37 dBA. The cooler will support most socket types, including LGA2066, LGA115x, and AM4.

Why they didn't implented this from the start, i guess they would earn less money.
 
Soo, they are putting PWM fans on it with a 0 rpm profile... Congratulations, I guess.

Nice to see Corsair is changing it up a bit, but something tells me this is going to hold a premium price tag.

I'm curious what the threshold temperature is set at, and if it can even be changed within the software.

With that said. a lot of motherboards will turn PWM fans off these days... I think i have this feature on mine.
 
Hmm... I did this with my H110i with a fan hub controller...
For the price they really should include fans that look good too... And that single color at time led dim block needs an upgrade too...

Don't get me wrong.. It's a good cooler... Just bland... Really really bland.

Regardless 25°c idle temps and nothing higher than 80°c @5.1ghz...isssss nice!

Meh...the pump makes enough noise you'd want the fans running anyway to drown it out. :P

Why turn off the fans in the first place? These radiators are not designed to run passively.
I just run my NF-A14's at 150rpm during idle.
 
As long as the ram fits under a good air cooler, I'd take the air cooler...

Yeah, I Iike the round Asetek pump on my H110. Never heard any pump noise, and it's still working the same after 4 years. The round ones can also be fitted to a bracket and used to cool your GPU.
 
Fan off mode is part of the iCue software, so its available on my H115i as well
I just cant quite figure out how to use it correctly, as the zero RPM mode turns the fans off completely with no threshold setting to turn it back on

Edit: its based on water/rad temp and not CPU temp, so it just tool longer than expected to turn the fans back on.

maybe the sale pitch with this newer unit it has a threshold to do so where your older don't ? then it seem like if software they could offer a software update with that added as well for your like older units , but then that hurts this units sales to have that feature .
 
My unit didnt come with fan off mode at first because iCue didnt exist then - it used the older CUE software

definitely marketing taking advantage of the new software features, i just wish i could do custom fan curves along with the fan off mode (custom mode caps you at 20% minimum)
 
Well, my cpu's temperature is 34 degree right now and the fans are off. All I did was replacing the cooler's fans with a Noctua industrial fans, using Noctua's splitter.
 
Now only they came up with this feature?? really now, Corsair?? ==
 
Hey guys, just so everyone knows, the PRO series coolers have a few improvements over last gen, beyond just "fans that turn off".

Here's the list:
* Improved coldplate and pump that's significantly quieter.
* Magnetic Levitation fans (ML) that have significantly reduced noise levels at equivalent RPM/CFM to the older fans.
* The PRO series coolers no longer have to set the fans to MAX for a few seconds on each boot to gauge RPM - so the only way you'll hear the maximum RPM is if you go into iCUE and set it there yourself.
* The improved cooler CAN run the fans at idle at low loads (ZERO RPM MODE) - though it does have a "safety" feature that will turn on the fans if the CPU starts overheating
* Tubing was made slightly more flexible
* Mounting hardware was improved
* Improved RGB lighting effects on the pump cap

Most of these are decent improvements, but the choice of fans is disappointing.
I see how Corsair accomplished those noise levels - by using fans with reduced top rpm speeds. The "old" SP fans had 2000 - 2400 rpm, the good retail Corsair mag-lev fans are 2400 rpm, but the mag-levs included in these "Pro" models are only 1200 - 1600 rpm fans. Clever, Corsair. save money now with the cheaper fans, make money later by selling them the good fans. The included fans may be "good enough", and they are mag-lev, but these reduced rpm mag-lev fans are not sold separately, only with pro coolers. I'm sure most people won't notice, at least not until it's too late.
 
specifically built fans that are optimized for the radiator is decent, but only optional to swap with better fans that has negligible gains. Rather just save that money on other worthy parts like faster PCIe SSD, better board & whatnot than an aftermarket fans thats either beneficial or worst for your AIO kit.
 
This feature is available in most motherboard vendor provided utility programs for at least 6 years.

Does it levitate above the desk when under stress ? :) I have a game running right now and I'm at 43C ... rad fans are at 545 rpm... case fans at 45 rpm and pump is at 51% of full speed. Fans shut off on their own at , 350 or 450 rpm depending in channel
