Port Royal is the name of the latest component of UL Benchmarks 3DMark. Designed to take advantage of the DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API, this benchmark features an extreme poly-count test-scene with real-time ray-traced elements. Screengrabs of the benchmark depict spacecraft entering and leaving mirrored spheres suspended within a planet's atmosphere, which appear to be docks. It's also a shout out to of a number of space-sims such as "Star Citizen," which could up their production in the future by introducing ray-tracing. The benchmark will debut at the GALAX GOC Grand Final on December 8, where the first public run will be powered by a GALAX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti HOF graphics card. It will start selling in January 2019.

The least run benchmark in history I recon this will be
 
Betcha there will be fireworks - When the card catches fire during the benchmmark demo.
 
it seems every bench has to be way too annoying and boring to watch

they should be short like 2-3 minutes max, and be fun, cool

the last one i remember sort of cool was fur cat from guru3d or something like that, opengl cat dx11, a big cat with lasers and dubstep lol

but 3dmark benchs are the most boring ones and unigine too

the max paine bench from 2001 was nice

At least until raytracing becomes common. In four or five years if all goes well.

Although, this benchmark will probably have changed a lot by then...

that is good news to RTX 20xx early adopters - at least they have something to play with :D
 
This appears to look much better than whatever was done in BFV.
 
Well, I guess these foolish early RTX adopters have something else to look at now, other than a few low-res reflections in puddles... Oh wait, this is more of the same... Welcome to the RT future guys!

No wonder this looks light on actual RT content, have to keep nGreedia and the 2070 owners happy!

Also, how come the smaller spheres do not reflect anything other than the skybox? The two smaller spheres should have reflections of the bigger one on them, as well as the ship? My last remark is that the reflection also looks low-res and blocky. Not much going on there at all, to be honest.

I wonder what will happen first; the first game where raytracing is useful or the first proper Direct3D 12 game without a Direct3D 11 abstraction layer?:rolleyes:

what exactly are they going to bench? 2080 vx 2070?

i sort of hate 3dmark, they dont even have the installer on their website, their demos are so boring and mocap is bad when there are humans.

at least the old ati x800 x850 1950 xt2000 demos were nice, i still watch them and enjoy it

I don't hate them, esp since I don't own one of those cards so no real reason to hate for hate's sake - It's just with all the fiery problems they've had as fact I can see it happening like that so I said it.
More humor than hate and you know it would make for interesting video if it really did go down like that, putting the ( ! ) to these issues.

I can see the mad scramble now to put it out...... With the world watching.

All? One or two caught on fire from what we have seen?. I'm sure a few catch fire in EVERY card... I mean just be sheer numbers alone and how electronics work and fail, SOME have to in every model. I randomly googled "GTX 760 caught fire" and literally there are several links and links to other cards. Mountains and mole hills. There are contingents on either side that looooooooooove making mountains! Ha!

You don't see this at W9 or OCF bonesy....demographics are a bit different. :)

HGH baby... studies prove!



Anyway, It will be nice to check it out and see what it has to offer here in a few days.
