A bug which has recently been known to exist in AMD's diagnostic and validation software is responsible for allowing defective ATI Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 graphics cards to slip into the market.
The problem was an error in the BIOS application process and although it can be easily solved by reapplying the BIOS the defective cards need to be returned to the makers to be restored.
AMD responded that Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 chips are throughly inspected before being shipped to graphics card makers. This was an isolated incident and measures were taken to solve the issue as soon as it was detected, the company said. However more than 30.000 units have already been recalled from the market although it is believed that many more are still out there.

and what about all of the problems nvidia had with factory overclocked cards? they were shit and bsod'ed all the time ^^

Each day something new comes up.

If a new bios flash solves the problem, then I would do it myself instead of sending it back... but a lot of people are not willing to flash the bios on any of their hardware.

At least the problem was not a hardware issue.

A problem is a problem, no excuses.

You and your imaginary friend shouldn't try to irritate people....

All three of you need to chill.

You do need to choose either the Cats or the Ship in the tornado Zek. And i am not the one who needs to chill so i would appreciate it if you focus on the person who tries to start a flame.

Now you need to please calm down.

...And to everyone else, please get back on topic.

Thanks.

topic title is off topic, it seems to say that all 2400's and 2600's are defective. should read something like "defective amd products accidentally reach consumers" or whatever, the title as it stands, could be a liability to TPU.

and everyone has shipped bad cards, mobos, cpus' etc. nv themselves have let a big problem on the 8800's go unfixed for months now. they like amd are addressing thier own respective problems as best they can. it's part of business.

The title doesn't state How Many cards by AMD are defective and how many are not thus it is ok.

NVIDIA doesn't have a BIOS problem and the cards do work.

I had a problem with the BIOS on an 800GTO once, did the flash meself to sort it out, I also had one of those early 7900GT's that fried so to be fair......noones perfect!

IT happens, its a fact of life. We need to just be happy they fixed it and are recalling the cards, Im sure at their expense.

Has there ever been a hardware release not followed by issues?

It does suck that they took forever with thees cards and then have this problem. If I remember right some of the x1600s had a problem like this as well which wouldn't let them use updated drivers.

I dont hide it either guys, i like NVIDIA more since i have a bad past with ATI, i didnt just wake up and chose the green team.

NVIDIA and ATI have both had issues in the past, present and will in the future. I used to use NVIDIA.I am using an ATI 1900GT right now and I plan on purchasing the 2900xt w/1GB of gddr4. ATI has been good to me, so if they have an issue lets not make it an event of catastrophic levels. The X1950XT’s were awesome as well. If DX 10 or vista wasn’t a reality, then the market would look different.
Variety is great, especially when it comes to choice. What a nightmare if NVIDIA was the only graphics card manufacturer......$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$..... The last NVIDIA card I bought was the 7800GTX, and paid $598.00 when it was first released, a very short time thereafter the 7900GTX came out and it pissed me right off…the 7800GTX was dropped by NVIDIA and that started me using ATI.

So Nvidia shouldnt release new cards so we can feel better ?

NVIDIA doesn't have a BIOS problem and the cards do work.

So...they don't have a bios Issue "Today" so you feel justified In all the Negative press you so enjoy handing out on ATI?

Have you ever posted negative stories on Nvidia....or let It slide due to loyalism?

Bad history with ATI??...How long ago was that?...I'm dying to know what card gave you the fits so as to give you the grudge you have.

This Isn't a flame....these are valid questions In response to your statement.
