Microsoft's Windows 7 Reaches End-Of-Life

My issues with Win10:
- Garbage software auto install - can be turned off - still a thing.
- Start button and menu is crap - I've learned not to use it at all. Not really needed just short cut everything important to desktop.
- Still cannot remember num lock setting of the keyboard and latest version cannot be set in the registry either - just except it as a fault.

Otherwise Win10 works ok. Win 7 was better though. :)

When they stop doing crap like this.... Which we know will never in itself happen.

And the fact for years Alexa was indeed classified as Spyware because that's what it did period. Proggys such as Spybot Search and Destroy didn't have it named as a positive for no reason, that I can promise you.

So - In short, it's WinSpy 10 and won't be on my machine by my hand.
~The end.

But... none of these links are about Microsoft at all.

Totally different company. Even Cortana isn't remotely the same.

I don't believe it's coincidence that they happen to share the same name and perform the same basic function by design too.
Nope - Not buying it.
Alexa the spyware has nothing to do with being a voice assistant...

He's all over the place, frankly.

I believe both Alexa's are related if not one just being a newer, more sophisticated version of the other that got passed along to a new owner.
I do know speaking of "Place" it's in the same place, as in yours doing what it was intended to do all along.

No need to argue - Folks can do as they please and it's their right to.

I mean yeah, you can believe whatever you want. I can likewise see when you have nothing to back it up but a common name... so that's what I'm seeing.

For the record, I've never willingly used either product.

To be honest, Vista was a complete and utter garbage when it was first release. Resource hug, sluggish as hell, took a lot of space, full of bugs, complete junk.

I mean 10 years ago W7 came out, I meant that OS :)
Vista's problem was partly to be blamed on the manufacturers with their "Vista Ready" 512 MB crap, while it actually run OK on 2 GB machines. When SP2 came out then Vista was totally fine, imho. Damage was done, however.

I had Vista 64 bit Ultimate with 4GB ram back then, I liked the windows dreamscene thing.

Whether you see what I do or not is one thing, You have to admit anything that's listening all the time can be used for such and with human nature being "As Is" the probrability of abuse is rather high.
All this however is pointless, to sum up Win 10 will never be on any of my machines for the reason(s) given and I will close shop/go offline before it happens.

Running Windows 10 on my PC, Windows 7 and XP in VM for nostalgia purpose

I just wonder what you are doing that you worry about someone "spying" on you. I mean you must live a pretty amazing life. Everything would/could spy on me and be bored as hell.

You must break the law a lot?
Do a lot of criminal activity?
Deal in trades that are top secret?
Run guns underground?

I mean I understand if you cant answer the above because otherwise you will be put on another watch list :kookoo::rolleyes::slap:

Oh and your smart phone is listening WAY more than Windows 10 ;)

I do. I've even pointed this out in the past. However I still don't see any direct ties between the two products. The former Alexa spyware program wasn't even written by an Amazon company.

Classic. The "only criminals need privacy" argument.

Please, never use that again. It's flawed to the core.

My advice about linux was not malice. I am serious. I recently tried it myself and were it not for multiplayer titles requiring windows-only anticheat, I'd still be there. For the same concerns and reasons.

Yeah. Arguments like you just used are exactly how you get big brother dude. Orwell, please slap this man for me.

So says the one that made his life an open book....... But still keeps the window shades down and the doors to his own home locked while saying this.

Like it or not EVERYONE is already on a watch list of somekind - That includes you big guy.

Love the Ass-umption here.

Don't even have a smartphone - It's an older flip that's not very smart at all.
I don't need a phone for anything except for it to "Be" a phone, nothing else.
And yes, I'm well aware any phone period from at least a decade (Or even longer ago) can still be tracked via GPS or celltower location pinging.

I've simply said "Why" in my case, it's my choice and that should be the end of it.

Have to say it:
RTB I do respect your views on this, we may disagree sometimes but you're fine by me.

And one more thing - I'd be a damned fool if I were to ever think everyone would agree with me on everything all the time, so I don't.

Good bye Windows 7 Professional..... Hello Windows 10 2004

All these people claiming to be running Windows 7 must all be Intel people as AMD Ryzen needs Win10 OS!

Windows 10 2004 has second generation Raytracing in DirectX 12.2 for all next generation GPUs this summer...

Eh, I think we still have some FX and K10 users around... never mind that some of us forget to update our specs sheets sometimes...

Also, some people managed to make W7 work with Ryzen. Granted, don't expect anything to be stable, and definitely don't expect support at all, but it has been done.

No Ryzen doesnt need W10 to work at all, Im running 2 Ryzen Systems on Windows 7 and they work perfectly the only reason anyone would think that is because MS got lazy and didnt bother updating there OS to say it would work, when in fact it actually does and very well. All you need to do is install a little patch file to say W7 is support (to get rid of the msg) then it works like any other PC

I can tell you from expereince that my two systems running Ryzen and W7 are very stable! rock solid in fact. The only issue is and this is when installing W7 is getting the USB 3 drivers installed, when thats done and you install the patch to get rid of the "This CPU isnt supported by W7" Msg then your golden. Enjoy a fast, reliable, stable system with less headaches then 10.
