NVIDIA today posted, the latest version of GeForce software. Version 442.19 WHQL comes game-ready for "Zombie Army: Dead War 4," "Apex Legends Season 4," and "Metro Exodus: Sam's Story." With these drivers, NVIDIA improved the maximum frame-rate setting with limits between 20 and 1,000 FPS. Find this setting in "NVIDIA Control Panel>3D Settings>Maximum Frame Rate control." NVIDIA also introduced VRSS (VR super-sampling), an image quality enhancement that super sampling selectively on the central region of a frame.

Among the bug fixes are a game crash during a cutscene in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine," SETI@Home experiencing driver crash (TDR) on "Maxwell" GPUs, random stoppage of OBS streaming with "Call of Duty Modern Warfare," Battleye with NVIDIA low-latency mode causing a DWM crash and recovery; certain SLI+G-Sync stutter issues being fixed; a "Doom" (2016) game crash with "Kepler" GPUs, and an NVENC memory leak. Grab the drivers from the link below.

Game Ready
The new Game Ready Driver provides the latest performance optimizations, profiles, and bug fixes for Zombie Army: Dead War 4. In addition, this release also provides optimal support for Apex Legends Season 4 and Metro Exodus: Sam's Story.

Maximum Framerate
In the last Game Ready Driver, we introduced a new Maximum Framerate Setting into the NVIDIA Control Panel which allowed gamers to set the max framerate a 3D application or game can render. With the latest Game Ready Driver, we've incorporated community feedback asking for the limits to be extended. As a result, framerate limits can be as low as 20 FPS and can be raised as high as 1000fps.

New Features and Other Changes
  • NVIDIA Control Panel>3D Settings>Maximum Frame Rate control
  • Extended the slider values to minimum=20, maximum=1000.
  • Added Virtual Reality - Variable Rate Super Sampling (VRSS) setting to the NVIDIA Control Panel ->Manage 3D Settings page.
  • VRSS improves image quality by applying super sampling selectively on the central region of a frame. This feature is available for VR applications profiled for VRSS. See this Game Ready Driver article for the latest list of profiled VR apps.
Fixed Issues in this Release
  • [The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine]: The game may crash when a user reaches a specific cut scene. [2726931]
  • [Maxwell GPUs][OpenCL]: SETI@Home shows driver TDR occurring on Maxwell GPUs using OpenCL. [2739609]
  • [Call of Duty Modern Warfare]: Streaming of gameplay using OBS will randomly stop. [2743477]
  • [Battleye][Low-Latency Mode]: Launching Battleye with NVIDIA Low Latency Mode set to Ultra may cause DWM to reset. [2775906]
  • [SLI+G-SYNC Stutter]: User may experience minor stuttering when using NVIDIA SLI in combination with G-SYNC. [2778783]
  • [Doom (2016)]: The game crashes when launched on GeForce 600/700 series (Kepler) GPUs [2791124]
  • [NVENC]: Memory leak occurs. [2805384]
  • [Multiple Apps][SLI][G-SYNC]: Stuttering and drop in frame rate occurs during gameplay with SLI and G-SYNC enabled [200566678]

An article idea: comparison of frame time/pacing and input latency for different methods of frame rate limiting - driver, rivatuner and the games themselves.

Navi just fixed a similar but slightly worse version of this bug (it validated), wonder what is going on there...

There were people complaining about not having the control panel?
I always download the driver from https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
no issues here, always have the standard nvidia control panel.

Windows 10 is capable of utilizing two kinds of display drivers: DCH and classic/standard. The DCH variety doesn't have the control panel in the package but in Windows Store instead.
By default the nvidia site will give you the standard driver with the old control panel installed by default.
Microsoft's idea is that all drivers will be DCH in the future (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...evelop/getting-started-with-universal-drivers)

That's a wrong idea considering they are selling Windows LTSC to large businesses — the version of an OS which doesn't have the Windows Store app enabled.

Microsoft can suck on it. That Store is still a horrible place and I don't want to ever go there. Had a DCH install on a rig I built and accidentally had connected to the internet too early... man. The trouble to get that shit out of there again... horrible. Its a persistent fucker too, you gotta remove the device in hardware to ever get rid of it or it just straight up reinstalls itself.

DCH drivers work on LTSC and it's possible to sideload the control panels via GPO. I don't think that version is available in retail channels anyway.

This is true. It's recommended to use the standard driver package for Windows 10 LTSC/LTSB through SCCM for deployment of required drivers, otherwise the NVIDIA Control Panel should be deployed through GPO if DCH drivers are needed.

What? No you don't. I've installed DCH and gone back to regular drivers a few times. It's very easy.

Using DDU, set it to not allow Windows to install drivers automatically. Then use it to remove drivers and restart. Once it restarts you're using the basic VGA driver and are able to install the normal driver that you go from NVIDIA's or AMD's site.

Not anymore, but this issue is the reason I stopped using my GTX 780s in SLI when I got my G-Sync monitor. Also one of the reasons I don't SLI anymore. If they truly fixed it that will be great for people that do still SLI.

Thanks for that and will do in future for sure. Still though, you used a third party application to get truly rid of a Windows native feature. Go figure. That just doesn't occur to me all that readily, to be honest, and it never did. I despise Windows third party apps in a big way, especially of the utility kind like DDU or 'cleaners' and other such stuff. Not bashing DDU, I know its legit. I run my installations as stock as possible, as bare as possible.
