A hacker by the name of 'stepwhite' has successfully integrated the infoNES core with Apple's iPhone. You can watch the video here! According to the folks at 'The Unofficial Apple Weblog' the emulator is still in development. Apparently it runs to slowly and the control implementation needs work.

A Nintendo for the price of an iphone? :p

Almost a good iphone bash.

One app will cascade into many others...

Soon iPhones versatility will be unequaled.

Even if you crazy anti-fruit fanbois don't wanna admit it, this is going to start a revolution if(WHEN) it becomes non trivial to mod the iPhone and run custom apps.

iPhone NEO-GEO

Not looking to bash the iphone though, lol. I'm just saying the original thing is better, of you can buy a DS buy a super card (or something like that) and then pop some download games off the web. BTW a super card is basically a adapter from DS cartridge to Sd micro that games can be ran off of.

With the processing power of the Iphone, I would think the NES Emulator would zoom on it. Why would it be slow?

Probably just design of the emulator. Just like how emulating an os on a computer takes alot of resources.

If I wanted versatile, I would buy a laptop and put skype on it (for $600).

Grats, its almost portable, almost has battery life, is almost stable, and is almost acceptable sound quality.

Tho I have seen those super portable PC's.. running like a ghz.. pretty cool for "ultra-portable" but their usability is definately sub par.

are you kidding me? there's some ultra portables that run core 2 duo's with 2 gigs of ram! the only thing that really hinders portability in a laptop is screensize... most ultra portables have a 13" screen.

The one's I have seen have screens like...8 inches.

& they got very high resolutions too!

I just don't see the point, plus look at the "keyboard"

Ehemm, you mean VOIPcheap instead right?

But I got everybody here tho. But seriously, what makes the Iphone so great? Im not going to bash it I am just asking ...

Laptop VS Iphone? Hmmmm .....

well they cost about the same :p

one is bigger, the other is an apple.

Thats not an ultraportable, thats a laptop.

Ultraportables aren't quite full fledged laptops.

They look more like a computer version of a GBA.

My f*cking old N-Gage runs Mega-Drive and SuperNes emulators for years... I don't think that's anything revolutionary. Just something logical for any suitable device.

Glad to see people inovating Apples proprietary.

On the which device is better laptop vs iphone ;P Anyone check this out OQO model 2?

Problem is, I'm not getting an iPhone. Not that I hate Apple products, but I hate AT&T and I hate their plan that goes along with the iPhone.

Why are they called hackers? Did they actually hack something or just make an application that plays NES games on the ipod...if that is so, thats not hacking, that's programing.

edit: i mean iphone...

well yes that is a good question. i considered calling the one guy a programmer but apple software is closed software, so it is considering hacking i believe.
