It seems as though one of several Halo 3 sponsors decided that there was more to game publicity than making a knock-off product with a Halo 3 theme. On September 25th, Pontiac is sponsoring a gaming event where a lucky few get to play Halo 3 on an IMAX screen. The average IMAX screen is a 72.6 by 53.6 feet concave screen, designed to make the person watching the IMAX production feel as though they are immersed in a three-dimensional world.

If you live in New York or San Francisco and want to play Halo 3 on one of the largest screens in existence, please register for the "First to play/First to own" event here.

what for? Halo 3 doesn't have the best graphics

Id love to play Crysis or Far Cry 2 on that Imax screen although i cant even play a game in my 55' LCD screen since i get dizzy :P

That's interesting Hellas.

When Wolfenstien 3D first came out, many people experienced vertigo and nausea from the 3D movement on the screen. They found that simply changing certain textures completely eliminated this effect.

Do all your games on the 55'er cause your vertigo, or just some ?

Since i can only play on my 55' from a 1 meter distance i think its natural.

I'd love to play any game on an IMAX screen with dual 8800's and quad core etc. But I'd also like to play at my mom's workplace.....4 50" lcd's @ 1600x1200 plus one touch screen....it would be gamer's paradise.

Hahahahaha......Nah, my 21' is ok for now :)

A lot of XBOX 360 FPS games make me nauseous on any size screens. I think it has something to do with their motion blur tech.

Actually i have my computer connected via HDMI, not an Xbox or a PS.

I wonder how the image will look. 720p stretched that much may well look very pixelated.

I don't know about you guys but I'd love to play any game at an IMAX noe matter how old it may be.

Quake 1 FTW

dude, has anyone ever been to an IMAX? ZOMG, this is ub3r l33t <eg>

but seriously, its like a super hd projector...Id love to be able to do that.

get a sony 1080P and you can

My god...

Although I would rather play forza or something compared to halo3.

Nice! Not my first choice for a game, but nice none the less.

I've been 'borrowing' a projector from work for the past couple months. Only 800x600, but good for videos, some PC games and my Wii @ ~70". Would love to grab a 1280x720 projector when I have the cash (best resolution for the price IMHO).
