Show me ATX with S/PDIF for that price! Cheapest is ashrock 235€
Why do you need that any way? Sure you may actually need/want it but that's your specific use case, it's like me saying show me an Intel laptop with four TB5 ports under a grand

Z906 speakers. And my 155€(at that time)7yr old z270 have same about ports, connectivity vs todays morherboards for higher price.
Maybe in ~4yr AM5 prices will go down very well

Prices are not what they were 7 years ago plain and simple, same with GPU's, have a look at what $200 could buy you back then compared to today's prices, so that's a bit of an unrealistic comparison

That price for the 5700x3d is an absolute joke, the 5800x3d has been constantly at 300€ for months now and very frequently as low as 280€ in some stores.

Reviews might prove me wrong but I believe the performance reduction from that reduced clock will also be pretty brutal and won't survive the test of time as gpus get better, unless it get's very heavely discounted I wouldn't consider it.

Too bad 5000GT still have Vega iGPUs. Pass for that reason.

Do the latest graphics drivers even work on these chips now? I remember seeing a warning or something on my 5600G when I last used it on windows, but cant remember if it was a warning for disabled features or had to get older driver.

Driver support hasn't been fully discontinued, just slowed down and reduced in scope to bug/security fixes. Current driver is 23.11.1 from November

I think it's because the manufacturers are hiding the AMD popularity wave. You want an AMD CPU? Pay the MoBo premium. People will still get them because of the good value of the whole package.

-Probably building in some longevity cost too. If they're going to sell you one mobo that will support the next 2-3 CPU gens, then they're going to charge you upfront.

Mobo makers are not making the AM4 mistake again, selling people a $50 board that supports everything from a x1300 through a 5900x...

Ok, so now we have the R5-5600X3D, R7-5700X3D and R7-5800X3D.

What's next, the R9-5950X3D?

5950X3D was already done just never released!

Already said it: this is an e-waste or soon to be such. Sorry to hear that apparently offends you so much, but I'm not taking that back.
I'm not offended at all, and those new SKUs don't catch me either. I only pointed out why RDNA 2/3 on AM4 was not going to happen, as response to your RDNA 3+ in Ryzen 8k remark, and why it probably wouldn't make much sense anyway for AMD to invest any effort into it, at this point in time. Too bad they didn't bring Rembrandt right when AM5 started.

That's a good theory. For me worse than the price is that most boards kinda suck, the pcie layout is always very weird and crappy for anyone planning something more unconventional like using 2 gpus. Every board is seemingly m.2 galore and maybe you get an x4 slot optionally connected to the m.2 but on the chipset lanes instead of the cpu lanes :(

A potential customer doesn't have to care about any of that though.

They just see a final product on the shelves and decide for themselves, whether it makes sense for their use case or not.

Given the circumstances I say no. But I speak for myself and don't attempt to make anyone agree with me. And expect same courtesy in return.

Silly naming and boring new skus.
If they had the time it's better to make some low-end Zen 4 skus. Much more efficient and faster.

Probably next 700 series MB chipsets will have higher PCIe version itself than 600 series+better connection with CPU I/O chiplet. 5.0x4 or 4.0x8?

Sucks that I already got a 5800X few months ago, and I think that it's not worth changing to 5700X3D as I play at 4K.

I was pretty sure that's what you were doing, but AMD is getting a lot of love in the forums for releasing these new chips as some great act of benevolence. They're simply selling as much of their product as possible. Nothing wrong with that at all, but it's just business.
It's because compared to Intel's (and nVidia's for that matter) practices, AMD appears benevolent. You can blame Intel and nVidia for that because if they weren't such trash, AMD wouldn't be able to look benevolent in comparison. Like, AMD just released the R7-5700X3D on AM4, almost eight years after AM4's release. That's pretty consumer-friendly in my book!
The biggest issue I had with the release of the 7950x3d and 7900x3d was that they held back the 7800x3d by a month to capitalize on those that couldn't wait to have the newest and sell as many of those two chips that they may not have if they hadn't staggered the release.
Well, yeah. That's why I thought it was pretty cynical. I was also annoyed that there was no R5-7600X3D because that not only would've been good for gamers, it would've been great for AMD because the more people adopt the AM5 platform, the more guaranteed future CPU sales AMD has. At the start of a new platform that is seemingly expensive to adopt, the platform maker should bend over backwards to ensure that people feel that they must adopt it. Once the people have invested in the platform, it's very easy to render Intel non-competitive because people don't want to spend more on another motherboard if they don't need to.
I think they could have had a real winner with the 7950x3d had they done the 3d v-cache on both CCDs.
No, they wouldn't have. The X3D cache causes the CPU cores to run slower to reduce heat. There are no games that would benefit from 16 cores and productivity software responds better to faster cores with higher clock speeds than an overabundance of L3 cache.

AMD shouldn't have made any X3D versions of their R9 series. They should've instead made an X3D version of their R5 series. The fact that they took the path they did was greedy, cynical and overall, stupid.

Disagree. X3D R9 is a halo product. Not many buy them, and rightly so, but they have a place in the lineup as demonstration of power. R5/R7 are mainstream/enthusiast parts which are actually purchasable by most people.

This. Does anyone remember the narrative about X3D on AM4. People were moaning about the 12 and 16 core chips not having Vcache. AMD gives us exactly that and the narrative moans about it. Now the narrative are telling you that your R9 Vcache CPU is not faster than the 7800X3D because it has 1 CCD like this is 2017.

You might be surprised. It depends on what Games you play.
