Woah, and I thought I was lucky to get my TR2 through RMA even though its warranty seal was busted from when I cleaned out 12 months of dust from it. I guess I was right to think that! I didn't even need my sales receipt and I got it back today, within a week, and it is the revised model too.

Unlucky for PS3 owners.

Honestly, they cant void your warranty because you are a poor house keeper, that is BS. That would be like GM voiding your warranty because you live on a dirt road and the car was dirty.

If they will void on that, then they should have air cleaners or something saying that you should always keep it dusted. Thats the problem with a warranty though "misuse" covers a BROAD spectrum of BS that they can make up.

I would hate to see how your electronics look.

In my opinion who didn't clean at least the visible parts from dust don't deserve to have free repair;even if you have warranty sticker and you can't open a console or computer case you can clean it;i've done it a few time with compressed air and is more than waiting years;monthly cleaning is needed at fans and coolers and the result is obvious a cooler sys with 5-10 degrees C .
But who don't care and have enough money deserve to be treated like this.

Lol, I do have a DUSTY ass house, but my electronics are perfect. My house was built in 1954 and it has the old "Blow in" type insulation in the attic, makes HELL for dust once it starts breaking down.

Only way GM would void your warrenty is if it had this level of neglect. Like I said in a pervious post, you wouldn't get warrenty service if you went off roading with your 4x4 and broke something in the process. It is not covered by any warrenty (neglect) unless it failed by their workmanship (dead fan, overheating due to poor design-360).

The state of the unit shows this guy did not care for his ps3, otherwise known as neglect.

Thank you for putting that so eloquently. I couldn't of said it better myself.

Stupid. Dust is unavoidable, and that PS3 just looks to have fingermarks where its probably been moved from one room to another on a regular basis for whatever reason. If dust really voids the warranty, I'm deff not buying a PS3, they can kiss my white arse and I'll buy a Wii to spite them.

The picture doesnt look like regular dust, but "builders dirt" like there has been some serious grit and dust (not domestic fluff) that this machine has been exposed to.

I have to side with SONY. The machine was DISRESPECTED to be found in such a condition: it is NOT normal household dust.

BUT they should have show pictures of the insides too.

I wouldnt put it past sony to of thrown some dirt on the console themselves. Nothing is below what a manufacturer will try. I will admit tho, the owner of that console should of been smart enough to clean it up externally before sending it in.

Not true, they still cant void it there either, since a 4x4 truck is made for off road usage. My Blazer has the off road High and Wide package for clearing rocks.

So ripping a transfer case in half at the dealers expense is covered by warranty?

Dust

Sony should fix it for free! It's just bad business to carry on the about some dust. I don't have a PS3 and now I won't get one for sure. Hell why would I, since they can't stand behind anything they sell. I don't know what's keeping the Sony ship afloat, but they won't last much longer treating customers like that!

Go ahead and break something off-roading, and see if they cover it under warranty. I guaranty they don't, and void the remainder of your warranty in the process. This happened to my previous neighbor with his S-10. He took it off roading and broke an axle. The dealer refused the warranty work and voided his warranty. Read you warranty again, off-roading is not considered normal use. It's considered extreme use.

Same goes if you blow your car up on a race track.

I still agree with Sony on this one.

At his absolute worse, he could have at least cleaned it before sending it in, you do have to admit that this guy is a bonafied 'tard to begin with..
