What phone you use as your daily driver? And, a discussion of them.

Apple steals them and resells them. This is how the revenue gets so high.

What else you people will come up next to express your personal hate and grudges with Apple and iPhones that no one cares about...
Now that is hilarious!

If you all Apple haters cant come up with some legit and coherent answers about why Apple sucks and its users deserve condolences you better stop abusing the keyboard.
1: Apple trying to patent something that's probably been around for 10,000yrs ie: Rounded Corners
2: Apple only allowing you to skin Saffari if you want to use another browser
3: Apple only give you the hardware they want you to use you have no choice atleast with Android phones you get a choice of hardware
4: Expensive to repair and that's if they don't try claiming water damage and voiding your warranty inorder to try to get you to just buy another iPhone
5: Apple really don't want you to repair your own device they're highly against right to repair oh yeah sure they offer some stuff that you can do at home but boy it's almost as expensive as buying a new phone
6 Apple hates 3rd party repair shops they refuse to allow them purchase parts and if they try to import parts Apple gets customs to confiscate them claiming they're counterfeits just watch some of Rossmanns YT videos
7: Apple claiming security reasons for not allowing 3rd party repair is total BS and to this day has never been proven to be a security risk
8: Apple using serialisation of parts inorder to make stuff not work right if you use 3rd party parts or parts from another iPhone to repair an iPhone and not allowing access to the software for 3rd party repair shops so they can enter the new part so that things like fingerprint unlocking works like it should

I still have my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (Oct 2020) and it still holds up very well today. I used to be upgrade crazy with phones, but not so much today.
However, with 5G now available in Argentina at no extra charge, I will be considering a Galaxy S24 or S25 at some point, especially since Samsung do some pretty good trade in deals down here.
Also, I only go for flagship phones if I can.

One of these trade deals convinced me to get my current S23 Ultra. They paid me almost full price of the Note10 I had. Also, buying from Samsung's website there was a launch deal upgrading the storage, so I paid 256G price for the 512G phone.

1 TB S25 Ultra. Fibreborne 2.0 600D aramid magsafe case, 22g. Torras full coverage TG screen proc, magnetic ring stand.

Actually have a spare 1.0 version of the case as they sent the revised version for free since some people had minor issues with the first revision.

Redmi Note 10 Pro https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_10_pro-10662.php
Bought at launch (2021) for 220€.
  • Nice 120Hz OLED
  • Stereo speakers
  • Snapdragon 732G (2x 2.3 GHz A76 +6x 1.8 GHz A55) 569 singlecore 1780 multicore Geekbench 5 score. Still smooth user experience in 2025.
  • Very usable 108MP camera + actually decent 5MP macro (hard to find on budget phones, I often use it) + mediocre (but useful when needed) ultrawide. I use all the 3 cameras at different situations and all of them are very useful.
  • 128GB + 6GB RAM. Enough storage for me and enough RAM for having apps running in the background.
  • Full of useful hardware: microSD slot + dual SIM + 3.5mm jack + radio FM + infrared port + NFC + side Fingerprint. These features are getting almost impossible to find in 2025 phones.
  • Long lasting 5020mAh + 33W fast charge. Bought a new battery for 13€ last year, installed it myself. Still comfortably lasting a full day.
4 years later the phone is still in pristine condition, everything is working (only battery degraded and I changed it) and it's still very usable and smooth and the RAM is still enough for not having apps closing on the background. Just amazing value, have no complaints.
Only downsides are that it lacks 5G and it's not updated anymore, but 4G is still enough for my daily use and after project mainline Android updates are not as important, new Android versions barely bring anything new anyway. As always with MIUI it came with adds but it took me 5 minutes to disable them on day 1 and I have never seem them again.

If I wanted to get a new phone it would be very hard to find anything similar. Closest phone would be Redmi Note 14 5G but it lacks a good macro camera and the only improvements are 5G, a bit better CPU , going from 6 to 8GB RAM and more storage. None of these are big improvements, so it's not worth paying 200€ for the switch.
I'd be perfectly happy to go for a 300€-400€ phone since I use my phone a lot but the features I want have disappeared from all the mid range phones. The features my current phone have that I'd like to keep are:
  • dual SIM + 3.5mm jack + radio FM + infrared port + NFC + fingerprint reader + decent macro camera
And since I'm buying a new phone it also needs 5G and a big improvement on CPU+RAM+storage. No new phone fulfills this. The Poco X7 Pro or the Poco F7 Pro would be big a improvement on CPU+RAM+storage, they could have been such a good upgrade from my phone but unfortunately Xiaomi removed the 3.5mm jack, radio FM and the macro camera from them. eSIM would also be nice.
We are in such a sad state for the smartphone market, where companies have removed plenty of useful features from new phones and budget phones have barely improved over the last 4 years. I was annoyed when 4 years ago I saw my Redmi Note 10 Pro lacked a notification led (my previous phone had one and it was quite useful). Getting a new phone in 2025 and losing all these features just sucks.

Pixel 8. It's actually perfectly capable phone, I just wish the battery lasted a bit longer.

LG K11+ But its starting to show its age, plan to update this year.

motorola g84 12/256, really nice, cheap and fast, lightweight phone with 144hz oled. battery lasts 2-3 days
sadly, I cracked the screen a little last week when I dropped it on stone stairs - might replace the phone at some point this year, despite the fact that I really like it. will also buy one under 250eur, I don't buy phones or cars that I'd be too concerned to damage.
I like the edge 50 fusion 5g in "marshmallow blue", might go for that one.'

switched to Xperia 10 VI as Samsung S23 gone to some girl :D
the phone pros: damn NARROW, very good for my MID-SIZE hand to hold, compared to other "tall" phones (the screen ratio is 21:9, I loved it, for phones only tho!!)
good price of ~400 EUR (yeah, site gsmarena.com shows you a happy much lower price, but idc from what "heaven" they put prices there lmfao they are always damn cheap lol)
the battery holds STEADY 2 days with medium-high usage of web-messaging, games, YT, some photos, calling, web etc. - in comparison, S23 was like iPhone SE which drains in half-day lmfao
PURE FAST ANDROID, and 15 which was definitely earlier than I gave away my S23 lol.
the phone cons: again, damn TALL, one-handed use on-the-go is sh*t lol.
water-tight is not 68, gotta be careful and not to take photos of girls in SPA or beach... :( lol

the phone performance: not as fast as S23 was, not as slow as Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro was. lol. works just OK.

Does anyone know how long I could expect the iphone 14 plus to get security updates for? How many years left? I need a second phone for work and it needs to be an iphone. Not sure what to do. Don't want to drop $600 on a 16e for a device I won't be using much. bleh

Also, I don't want to go too old, because I do want it to have security updates for 4+ more years ideally.

Any iPhone without support for apple intelligence (hw tops) will have a shorter update life.

But they're usually pretty long in general.

I have a Pixel 6 and will be getting a Pixel 8 Pro, what plan are you on? I have Visible+

I originally switched from P6 to P8Pro when I switched from T-mobile to Google Fi.

Very happy with Google Fi. For example, when I broke my P8Pro I was in a foreign country. But I could still transfer my number and plan to the old P6 within 15 minutes and never missed a beat.

Pro tip: it paid off to take my old phone as a backup phone on trips.

Bought a new case for my pixel 6 pro..... figured it will at least look a little newer. My old case is getting pretty beat up. It was actually pretty hard to find a good rigid case for cheap for an older phone. And I had to return to the first one cause it straight up lied about including an 'anti-scratch screen protector', then when I try to return it they go "well, we didn't say it was a film so....." Well geeze if you were trying to say rubber bumpers maybe you should have just said that. Luckily it was amazon so I could just go over their heads.

Anyway yeah my phone is pretty much just a phone so, no need to upgrade until I break/lose it. Though I think this might be a record. I used to only last 6 months or so.

At least another 3.5 years I can say safely.

Current iOS version is 18+.

iPhone X released with iOS 11.1 and got updates up to iOS 16.7.7 (5 years support)
iPhone XS released with iOS 12 and its still getting updates for IOS 18+ (6 years support)
iPhone 11/12/13/14/15/16 are of course also up to date on 18+.

I dont expect for modern devices to get anything less than 6 years support.
iPhone 14 released with iOS 16 and it is still a very capable device.
It may lack some of the new intelligence features against the latest and future devices but in terms of security updates and other new features it should be ok for another 3+ years up to iOS 21 at least.

these "intelligence" features are all AI BS. If you really can't live without "assistant" in any thing, you need to be constantly "on the edge" of device changing.:)

I agree on the assistant AI BS. But intelligence functions can be a lot of more silent stuff that apps or the operating system maybe can utilize while you're doing your things, have more options doing what you doing or processing "better" photos/videos, better text predictions and so on. The possibilities are far too many.
Are all those necessary? Are all those a real reason for a user to upgrade the device always to the newest? To 99% of users absolutely not.
I was just trying to be informative.

The AI functionality has just began. This is still in its infancy. We are going to see a lot more within the next 5-10 years and in the distant future.
Also if anyone wants/desires a better assistant in the future, should have to understant that in order for an assistant to do a better job it has to know everything about you. The more it knows the more accurate service it can provide. And I dont mean just what you do or what you like. I mean everything. Even your psychology and mood at any given moment. We are not ready yet for such a commitment. But these things tend to build up slowly and progressively. I just hope that the users will have the "freedom" to choose the level of personal information that will be given away to the device.

I want a Pixel 10 later this year (I've driven google since Nexus 4 days) currently sporting a Pixel 7a due to a budget constraint when my Pixel 5 got pregnant (found out months after that Google were offering credit or refurbs on them so it wasn't worth the hassle)

I really want them to up the 1080p slo-mo cap from 240 to 480, it's literally the only thing that's making me a sad panda at announcements. Battery life has improved to the point where I got 2 days from my Pixel 5 (day and a half from my 7a) and that's kind of enough for me, more is nice but I wouldn't flog a kidney on ebay for extra cash for it.

what makes you want to skip the 9a and do flagship 10?

Holding out hoping that they improve the slo-mo to 480fps @ 1080p and maybe a smidge more battery life. Rumours of a more efficient chipset to contribute to battery life.

I also wont have budgetary constraints in 3 months like I do now.

I'm looking at OnePlus 13s / 13t for a compact phone -

It has a Snapdragon 8 Elite, decent 6.2inch screen (wish it could be smaller still).

Why does the SoC matter so much? Well -

If I can't get this OnePlus for a decent price then I'll just get a Pixel 8 or 9 when they are on sale and call it a day.

I think the average security updates until it stops is about 5-6 years but it’s gonna shorter now for older phones due to hardware because Apple wants to implement more Ai stuff and the older hardware just not up for it

It's not gonna be shorter, they just won't support local LLMs on these devices.

The 14 Pro will likely be supported into the 2030s. - I'm on the Xs Max, from 2018. Running iOS 18.5, released this week.

Motorola G84 5G. Bought it two years back for 180€, 12GiB Ram, 256GiB storage, CPU's fine, OLED display, good value. My old Honor8X's battery was going down and the 4GiB of RAM was too little, so I didn't bother changing the battery. Still using the Honor for some stuff though.

As an experienced OnePlus user, I can only say go for it! I've used a 11&12 and was thinking about 13 but I wanted a bigger screen, so went for a 'downgrade' in performance but a bigger screen. Resulted in the OnePlus Open. Unfortunately OnePlus decided not to release the Open 2 in 2025, so perhaps next year I'll upgrade it to that one if it releases.
