Three DFI LanParty X48 Boards Pictured

DFI has kindly sent TweakTown pictures of their upcoming X48 boards and it looks like there will be no less than three different DDR2 models coming. DFI LanParty UT X48-T2R, LanParty LT X48-T2R, and LanParty DK X48-T2RS are all Intel X48 motherboards that support Intel Core 2 CPUs with 1600FSB and have four DDR2 667/800MHz DIMMs. The first two will share the same PCB design and features with the only difference being the chipset cooling. Both cooling systems will be from Thermalright, but DFI LanParty UT X48-T2R will use a premium new version, while LanParty LT X48-T2R will have the same old cooling found in DFI's previous X38 motherboards (LanParty LT X38-T2R). The third Lanparty DK X48-T2RS will be a more basic version, with ordinary heatpipe cooling and different PCB and slots colors. Despite its "basic" layout this model will have all the goodies found in the Intel X48 chipset. Release dates and pricing are unknown at this time.

That heatsink on the outside in the first pic is treading some new ground! Throw on a small fan and you'll get VERY good heat dissipation on account that it has lower ambient temps than inside a warm case. Though I would see a problem if you'd mount a 2 or 3 120mm radiator in the back of the case with a rad box.

Yeah and the copper does blend in quite nicely with the orange/black scheme

It's a large influence! It comes after performance and price, but if I don't like the way a motherboard looks, I will not buy it.

I love the performance and features of the Gigabyte 790FX DS5, but the color scheme looks like a rat ate a rainbow and some PCB, and puked.

yes.. they cost more.. 48 is a higher number than 35 or 38 and they look pretty..

That Heatsink Design can be found on the P35 and X38 class motherboards

When you have two (or more) boards that you like, it might come down to color...

Whoa. UTX48-T2R uses VERY thick heatpipes for the NB cooling... Those are like what... 6mm heatpipes? Certainly better than the thin crap that you normally find on other mobo cooling solutions.

EDIT: I do see one problem. When Thermalright and DFI get sued when someone accidentally emos themselves by slicing their hand on the IFX ehehe....

they might be the same chipset but features and support are different on the dfi mobos. some x38 have the full cpu support for all chips but the current p35 and x38 dfi boards dont support a fsb over 1333 so these boards do have advantages over their x38 counterparts
