My mate gave me a copy of this so I dont know which site he got it from (if I did I wouldn't post it incase I got in trouble)

I tried it last night with everything maxed out @ 1920x1200 ... it crashed after about 15secs may have been the high settings or the fact the code is still from last year ... or both

It was only DX9 but the water looked pretty good and everything else looked alot like the first one.

If I can get it going I'll give an update and if I'm aloud to I will post pics.

I saw the clear sky screenshots before... looked pretty good background wise, but the weapons were junk.

It's a prequel, I guess they can't have better guns than in the original. I'm dreaming when I ask this, but I hope they release a new patch for Shadow... that enables some of the new graphical features and has it optimised for multi-cored set ups.

I was talking about the graphics aspects of the weapons. It almost looked fake as the weapons were almost 16 bit and the gfx were not.

The Wiki page makes me convulse with excitement:

Weapons and armour will be repairable, and both will have a new upgrading system. There will be more new unique weapons. It will be possible to upgrade them very extensively in all categories by the player. Finding such weapons will be much more difficult. More ammo types (unconfirmed reports of 7.62x39mm hollow point and FMJ rounds being included). There are, of course, plans to add new weapons.

Ugh. I can't stand AP rounds. All the enemies at the end use them, and I was out of bandages instantly. I had to keep reloading and be 100% precise with my shots.

OOoo. I love different types of rounds. So they will have FMJs and hollow points... very cool, brings back memories of SWAT4, where they did that. So if you fight a person with armor, you use FMJs, and if you fight a dog or beast, hollows.

If you don't know much about the Chernobyl disaster, here are some recommended links. I spent like an hour of my work day a couple days ago on Wikipedia reading about Chernobyl, Pripyat, and all the aftermath. It's really interesting stuff. Very profound eeriness.

It's apeshit, my grandfather is from the Ukraine, I've never brought it up with him though. He's been living in the UK for most of his life now anyway so I doubt he'd know much and he obviously wouldn't have had an first hand experience.

I would have been nearly 1 year old when this all happened.

Well, they were all kids when it happened. I've got a good interview with Oleg Yavorsky in one of my PC Gamer mags. I remember him saying how it's great for him to be able to put his thoughts and visions of what happened down into the creative outlet of his choice. Or something like that anyway. I'll look the article out tonight.

aww man the guns are meh and the graphics kinda look the same to me hope the actual game is a huge improvement though, Also I wish the guns were realistically accurate I hate relying on mods since it takes me ages to install them and get them working.

the weapons were fairly accurate, and it really changed up what most of us were used to; no longer could you just point and click, but sometimes had to take a few shots.


Notice, though, it's still labeled "Work in Progress" and the demo itself was from the E3 Convention which was, what? Dec 2007?

I'm sure a ton of progress has been made since then.

Let's just hope GSC can release Clear Sky on time, and we don't end up waiting years like what happened with SoC

i think Stalker looks good as it is. some people don't like the graphics. i do. and the "weather overhauled" mod makes them look really nice. makes me wonder why if some guy out there can do that to the game after release, why no one would have thought to do it before release
