Fluid-cooling specialist Danger Den is ready with its Radeon HD 4870 X2 series water blocks designed to provide high-levels of thermal control to facilitate overclocking. The block provides full coverage cooling to the front part of the PCB that holds all the main components. The memory chips on the rear of the cards might still require passive cooling by means of heat-sinks.

The "Danger Den" will be my house when my wife finds out I ordered one.

I agree, EKs is a bit more polished. Id like to see them come out with something to cool the memory, pwm and mosfets as well (or whatever they are called).

The DD block looks like a fish. I cant believe they continue to show picts of the back that emphasize its surface like that.

Now that's one sweet bit of machinery. Hell if my wife can blow 2 grand on a puppy then I can blow all the cash I want on PC & HE equipment...I haven't even spent $1500 this year

i agree they need to work on there machining on the back i think ill run mine through a sander and smooth it out for better cooling. But its much better than the CoolIt water block...

any idea on how much these effect temps?

can wait to get my hand on a one my graduation present 1x 4870x2, 1x4870, 1x 1000+psu, WC, 2x DD waterblocks :D, Then I file for bankruptcy:cry:

I would imagine since its impossible for a full block to make contact with all the parts of the PCB anyways probably not much.

The thing that bugs me is its just not professional for a business to show a substandard finish like that (at least put a sticker on the surface to pretend to protect against scratches)

i dont see what ever one is getting worked up about. looks ok to me.

the source says they are samples fresh from the machines!

No where does it say this is the final released product!

LOL, so is this

There is no way if I was a company I would show this pict though

here is another pict of other DD blocks

Im not "worked up" I am just pointing out its sloppy business. (and that is coming from the most un business like person (me) on the web)

I wasnt pressing an arguement, I was just making sure that everyone realized they were still "samples" but looking at your latest pic, it may be becomming a trend of leaving all the hard machining intact!

tbh i like it- nice effect i think.

I like the look to an extent as well, but I feel the mating surfaces should/could be better.

i thought that effect was just the outside?

If you look closely, that "effect" is on all the RAM IC blocks and where the GPU die makes contact.

@ MK how flat were the surfaces of the block you had pictured a few posts ago?

I think it looks more like a submarine from a cartoon
