AMD Product lineup For Q4 2008 Uncovered

*starts chanting* bring back 939! bring back 939!

LOL umm i know the 939's was awesome, and ruled back in the day, but y?^

Hmm, 3.0GHZ is a start, but still, if it can't clock to at least 3.5GHZ, they can't compete with Intel. I still have hopes for AMD, I really do, but so far, their consumer friendly, low power chips ain't cutting it anymore.

way back it used to not be about clock speeds but IPC, aka a 2.0 GHz CPU beating a 3.0GHz CPU.

Yeah, but AMD is behind in that area as well.

ya because the Core 2 was originally about IPC, now people are talking about the clock speeds rising so it seems like its a battle of clock speeds again.

Highest multiplier isn't a function of the board/platform, but of the processor. For example, Windsor had 16.0x max.

it takes a board to be able to recognize that higher multiplier and utilize it.

No, I think they were mainly meaning that AMD needs to get their clock speeds up on this architecture to compensate until they can match Intel in IPC.

yep, thats what it boils down to.

it is true now , im wating , and i like the sexy pic of phenom with 4ghz and 20x

Clock speed means sweet F all, always has, it might be that right at this moment, but once the 45nm CPU's come in , it will be like the old days again, were clock speed means nothin, just you wait and see.
