Nice! How did you manage that?
(2) Undervolting on B760 : intel (reddit.com) i used MMTool to mod with, you can find the microcode in older bios's and extract the microcode you need (In my case "0x104h" \ "104h" \ "104"

I hope Intel will have to sort this out! since this affects energy consumption globally, although intel has been confronted with this. I also don't see the purpose of "Locked UVP" on DIY Hardware, win win for the consumer and the environment, stability is one's own responsibility with undervolting. In this case it will be like buying a new car and after it has been serviced 4 months later, they have updated the ECU so that the car uses twice as much petrol and reduced engine power by 20% without making an effort to inform you about it.

Nice! It pisses me off that they both locked down SA voltage and UV in locked CPUs on 12/13th gen. Sticking with AMD for next gen unless they change this since I generally find K-skus + Z-MBs a bit too expensive while I get full OC/UV-control on basic B-MBs with AMD.

Unnecessary that you have to mod the bios to get back a setting\future you had or should have had, you have to be far above average interested to embark on bios modding. was a bit worried about whether I got it right since the Msi B760i Edge DDR4 Wifi does not have a bios flashback:eek:. I like for both AMD and Intel, spending energy on hating one brand does nothing good! the most important thing is that we share experiences so that we learn and find solutions:)
The most important thing is not to have the best hardware in the PC, the most important thing is to have the best PC with the hardware you have:)
I feel that price and performance have become so even that it basically doesn't matter what you go for, but I have to agree that "k" sku's are a bit expensive, but you just have to pay to look happy!

I like both AMD and Intel, but for building budget oriented setups I prefer AMD for easier tuning etc. For ultimate high end Intel is king (if you want both gaming and production-performance and pay the price).

I always liked Intel because up to the 7700K AMD didn't even come close...
After the 2nd Gen onwards AMD improved a lot and if it weren't for the fact that Quicksync I use directly in Premiere and I'm not interested in migrating to another software, it would be AMD... Intel has always segmented too much and today even with the high competition continues with the same policy. I don't defend companies, I defend my pocket and my needs... This blocking scheme sucks for this, blocking for that... I recognize the maturity of the Intel platform conquered over the years but there comes a time that irritates some of the company's positions too much. Some might say: Not happy buy AMD... if what I use worked like Intel, I would have stayed with AMD.

Plenty to choose in Z690-Z790 from in price range of 150-250eur. AMD AM5 mobos cost 50eur with 14-16phase VRM? I have never understood of paying ~200eur for anything else than Z-boards, can't see what ppl are trying to save with getting B/H-chipsets. Those also cost the similar amount as Z's, if something else than 6-8 phase VRM cooking itself.

Would like to hear what for example very basic MSI Z690/Z790-A Pro mobo is lacking of... wasn't holding back my ram either, 3200 C15 @ 4000 16-16-16-36 in 247 use, had Wifi6+BT, 3x m.2, CPU 4900MHz 1.19V and CBR23 240->170W about. Paid way under 200eur as new.

Before calling me Intel-shill, posting on 5800H atm.

When I bought B660 for 150usd at launch I expected SA-voltage and UV to be unlocked like it has been on all previous gens. Intel never mentioned these limitations, if I had known I had not bought B660 or 12400F for that matter.

Take a look att ASRock B760M Riptide DDR5. From what i have seen it clocks memory pretty well with non K 12gen , cores too!

My Asus B660m K 2dimm does 3700 tuned gear 1 with my 12400F and locked 0.95v SA voltage, but with a 12600K it could have done 4100+ gear 1. I found out about Riptide too late. If I buy something new now it would probably be 7800X3D and Asrock B650m hdv 2dimm like a friend of mine bought which I help him build :)

They are bad Vipers, refuce to do flat 14 unless I loosen up RRD/FAW at 3800 on my 5600X which negates the improvement, tested at 1.5 to 1.58v, no difference, many errors. My FlareX 3200c14 do flat 14 at 3800 at 1.51v and ma0y do cl13 aswell :)

My worst set of b-die must be the most expensive i have, pair of Royale Elite 2x16gb 14-14-14-34@3600 1.45v XMP (F4-3600C14D-32GTESA) temp sensetive as f*** does not scale above 1.6v vdimm. Quite disappointed after using 400$ on those

Being able to undervolt should apply to all CPUs when using microcode 0x104.

I am not sure if that is possible with 13th Gen.
Tried to get AVX512 to work on 13gen but no, ofc with E-Cores disabled and a list long as the Bible with other things i tried , AVX512 works perfect with a 12600k i have on Msi B760i DDR4 Wifi and bios ver 1.30 (latest) ,

(12900k) Patching older ucode to restore AVX512 | Overclock.net one more Guide to patch another cpu microcode.

Just came to say thanks for this tip @veidas!!!

I have the Gigabyte B660 Gaming X DDR4 and could never get undervolting to work. I only ever used bios versions F20 and up. Now I downgraded to F5 and it works in ThrottleStop! And without the extreme performance loss that happens when using the bios to change voltage. No more thermal throttling in Cinebench after some initial testing. Awesome.

Edit: my CPU is i5-13600k

Terrible amount of content here, changing bios etc.
But I see that it seems to have worked out for a UV I5 13600k/kf on a Gigabyte B660 Gaming X DDR4
What version of biou to upload? (Bios F20 support 13 gen) How to do a bios downgrade?
Could I ask for a novice's tutorial on how to get this effect?

Edit: I did it, i downgraded bios to F5. "Undervolt protection" setting is gone from bios.
unfortunately, no matter what you set in the program, the performance and temperatures are still the same.
I edit with ThrottleStop! option cpu core and cpu p cashe. What am I doing wrong? please help @veidas

Not sure why intel suddenly cares about UV so much, but I think im going fixed voltage again like on my 9900k, at stock my 13700k hits 1.4v, already tried 1.3v fixed which saves 30w and 12C of temps. Adaptive tends to overvolt under load at turbo clocks, and with fixed no worries on transitional state stability.

The ThrottleStop FIVR monitoring table shows that you did not undervolt the P Cache. Try setting the core and the P cache to the same undervolt values.

If you cannot adjust the P cache in ThrottleStop then exit the program and delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file. This file seems to get corrupted if you were originally using ThrottleStop with VBS still enabled.

I would check the Ring Down Bin box. This can improve stability.

I would clear the Thermal Velocity Boost box. When this box is checked, it causes throttling when the CPU reaches 70°C.

VBS - Virtualization-Based Security

should this option be enabled or disabled? when starting ThrottleStop?
