TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.12.0 released today with useful new features and several stability updates. We worked extensively on the ability of GPU-Z to detect fake NVIDIA graphics cards (i.e cards not really having the GPU advertised on the box). GPU-Z now prepends "[FAKE]" to the Graphics Card name field, and lights up with a caution triangle. This capability is forward compatible for the supported GPUs (listed in the changelog), so for example, it will be able to detect a fake RTX 2060, which in reality uses a GK106 GPU. The second big feature is the ability to extract and upload graphics card BIOS of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2000 graphics cards. Graphics cards with multiple independent fans (each with its own speed control) are gaining popularity, and we've added the ability to read and log fan-speeds of individual fans on NVIDIA "Turing" graphics cards that support the feature, in addition to fan speed percentage monitoring.

Our feature-rich "Advanced" tab now also shows information on HDMI and DisplayPort connectors of your graphics cards. Power-draw on NVIDIA graphics cards is now reported both as a percentage of TDP and as an absolute value in Watts. Among the bugs fixed are a system hang due to Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) kicking in when GPU-Z is running in the background; memory bandwidth reading on RTX 2080 & RTX 2080 Ti with GDDR6 memory, AMD Radeon RX 400-series GPU utilization monitoring, and improved texts for system memory usage sensors.

The change-log follows.
  • Added detection for fake graphics cards using old relabeled NVIDIA GPUs (G84, G86, G92, G94, G96, GT215, GT216, GT218, GF108, GF106, GF114, GF116, GF119, GK106)
  • Added BIOS saving capability for NVIDIA Turing
  • Added monitoring for multiple fans on Turing
  • Added fan speed % monitoring on Turing
  • Added HDMI and DisplayPort info to Advanced -> NVIDIA
  • Power draw on NVIDIA cards is now reported in both TDP % and Watt
  • Fixed system hang caused by Valve anti-cheat
  • Fixed memory bandwidth on Turing with GDDR6
  • Fixed tooltip for system memory usage sensor
  • Fixed broken Radeon RX 400 GPU usage monitoring on newer drivers

Awesome stuff.
Mem bandwidth fixed on RTX cards.
GPU clocks are still... highly irrelevant and highly inaccurate on them, at least "base" clocks.
When and are we expected to see RTX VRM temp monitoring in this?

That fake detection is a great addition

thank you you are great

Does this happen with previous GPU-Z too?

Same thing to me the new version (v2.12.0) bsod my PC: Xeon E5 2690v2, 64GB, nVidia GF-GTX1080Ti and nVidia GF-GT640 (2GB).
The previous version (v2.11.0) works perfectly.

No, the previous version ran fine.

Discord is ok.

This version doesnt show fan speed for asus turbo 1080ti ?

Oh man, the fake detection should seriously cut down the "please help me with this GPU I got for super cheap" and "what BIOS should I flash" threads, great work @W1zzard!

That's a breakthrough - rip graphics card scammers. Good job techpowerup.

Good Update for GPU-Z Tool.

but i wonder how much will the fake GPU detector would be useful?
because one needs to detect if its fake or not before buying the GPU from ebay or etc..

It stops people from asking about problems - It cuts to the chase if someone bought a fake gpu and people make threads here regarding their fake gpu.

Evening Zenantx. Or is that Mourning? Perhaps ... bah anywho.
(oh and hi Breeder) Be sure to test it on Monday, it's only 3 minute wa yz.

Who nnose?

I find it useful to check if my 710 will be correct. There weare plenty of places in the cosmos where you don't know if you have the correct de sig nation. I mean, probably USSRY?

just great ...next build, if it possible, could you made the sensor tab as a side by side tab with gpu spec instead a click tab or open two gpu z when taking a screenshot at the same time ?

in some online shop, the buyer has some time before they approved their transaction, for an example in my country at least 2x24hr, we as the customer can check and made it sure everything good, if not we can hold the payment .. and asking help from the admin while waiting the seller respond till all processes finish.
