I tried running it under ultimate 64, just complains about no openal32.dll. I copied it from syswow64 to system32 and it still doesn't see it. No way around this?
Yes, applied feb 08 hotfix as well....

If the problem is related to the rig in your specs, I am hunching that it's a driver related issue with your sound card. I don't use Vista 64 so can't really help you much further than that tho, sorry.

EDIT: ^^ What he said LOL .... at work and cant search other sites or download anything. :ohwell:

Possibly, I just installed the raw driver and alchemy driver. I should uninstall those and install the newest youp pax x-fi cd. Man vista needs a lot of tweaks and babying to make it do what xp64 does out of the box.... But I'll tame this thing eventually.

Just install the download from the link I posted. It should work immediately after it's installed.

Thankyou! that openal update worked just fine, and thanks too wolf, but I already did the dx update, I find I have to rerun dx at least twice a month.. new games will install older version ect, stupid.

yup its always openal or directX.

Those two should always be updated on a fresh OS install, as they solve lots of problems.

Well, 500 points lower than xp64, but I haven't maximized the driver for performance settings, so it's looking pretty much the same. I get the same fps in dx9 games, bioshock in dx10 mode looks way better and has higher fps.. this vista64 is starting to look not bad.

dont tell the vista haters that, they'll run out of things to say.

its a great OS, you'll get used to it soon enough.

And if they complain about no refresh rate fix, they can check my post, it even works on a 10 year old game I play online called red baron 3d.. if I can play that under vista, without compatibility mode even.. bah they'll all have to go win7 or vista next year anyways, glad I'm getting ready now.

i switched to vista x64 just over a week ago and im getting almost 1000 less points on same settigns as i did under xp x86 :(

i also had probs with openal ,but eventually got it fixed ,im not 2 bothered about the lower score tbh as long as the games run as good as they did on xp ,and so far "fingers crossed" they seem to be ok.

in teh crysis benchmark i was getting:

XP x32 - 35fps average ,all high 1680*1050 [DX9]

Vsta x64 - 35fps average ,all high 1680*1050 [DX9]

Vsta x64 - 33fps average ,all high 1680*1050 [DX10]

not to bad, company of heroes looks better under dx10 as well.
