/bump just reached 1ghz on the core

Looks like my chip wasn't so fresh, but its still able! :)

That's not seem to be stable at all, o perhaps i'm thinking by the ugly yellow blocks and dots in ATITool. When i found 1 yellow dot, i stop the test.

I try flash asus bios on my HD4890, but asus SmartDoctor always say not found asus display card.

My HD4890 only 950/1100.i try use rivatuner add Core Voltage, but run 3dmark say lose driver.

Same for me with ASUS Bios, Not found.
With HIS OC BIOS it works, but strangely get randomly artifacts in 2D desktop and VPU recovery. With the original BIOS and the same clock, all 100% stable. Very strange.

I'm for mow with 925@1.312 and 966@1.35 real artifact free (no yellow dots). But in 966 i have stability problems only with Vantage (maybe 9.5beta problem), 3dmark06 works ok, also furmark, and folding stable (no EUEs), still searching the sweet spot...
What driver are you using?, with cat 9.4 seems to be more stable at overclock than 9.5beta (8.601)...

pump some volts into it :toast:

I need like 1.42 volts to get it running with no artifacts! I think I'll get an aftermarket cooler first

you got nice card;)
I need 1.45 volts to get it running core speed 1G with no artifacts!:(
but everytime stop scan for artifacts, the system reboot.

My using driver same at you(9.5 BETA):toast:
975/1100@1.4 real artifact free. 3D MARK 06, Vantage Pass and stable.

crysis seems to pick up on an unstable oc with these cards... youll see artifacts in no time if it isnt perfect....

i've decided to fix my c++ error and get the voltarra plugin working in riva... i just wanna know how good my core is...

All indications are the Asus tweak or any other 4890 that will allow you to adjust Vcore can go beyond 1Ghz on stock air. Let us know!

Any of the reference 4890s can get software voltage control

right... i managed 1000mhz core @1.4v - 100%3dmark stable.....

990 was fine @1.38v

gddr5 was left at 1100mhz

with these settings and related performance.
i would need my gpu which gathers an extra 100 3dmark vantage pts from 990mhz to 1ghz to run @1.2ghz core to (hopefully)match my previous 4870 crossfire setup....

15893-4870@820mhzcrossfire
11951-4890@1ghz results on 8.5 display diver...... just noticed 8.6 is available.....
12042-4890@1ghz using 8.6
about to bench again with ram @1200mhz-gddr5

edit:aborted bench run after 2mins....mass corruption... ram definatly needs more voltage for this speed....
something to note... the temps during my vantage runs were never over 65c, i was very surprised as i had been using fur mark temps as a referance...

1030 mhz with stock cooling + vgpu 1.41 v in crysis natural mod vista 64

1030141.jpg

I took this screenshot when i reviewed this card for gecube indonesia, didnt try more because the card's not mine:) so i dont have time more to explore or replace the cooling..still 1030mhz stock cooled is very good. So far it even beat LN cooling card in my country

i didnt oc the mem freq because it has no impact at all between default 975/3900 vs 1150/4600 at crysis bench, if someone wants to see the proove i'll be glad to relink or post the screenies

@non... you dont have a screenshot of the actual scene being rendered...you cant tell without this if the card was 100% stable (artifact free)...

just out of interest take a couple of screen shots next time m8....

use atiwinflash to save your bios when using 4890....

i dont see anyone else with futuremark result show the screenshot. Why should i?;) fyi..Unlike furmark if the card is unstable in crysis will kick back to desktop on the 3rd run. I can run higher clock in furmark artifact free rather than getting fps result in crysis;)And do note, it's natural mod + vista 64. Too bad i already return the card right after i wrote the article(3 weeks ago or something) so i cannot show that it run flawlessly at 1030.Besides I dont need to proove to anyone, didnt i?:) just want to share this clock only..

anyway, please use rivatuner..dont user CCC since overdrive only limit to max 1000 mhz. And dont bother dumping card bios, until gpu z 3.3 no bios dumper can extract the bios correctly. It will dump as 64KB bios rather than it supposed to be 128kb. But gpuz 3.4 fix that already, thanx to the great wizz. But RBE wont allow you add more than 1.313v to gpu. Imho..1.31 it's kinda worthless if u want to achieve 1G clock, u can use voltage factory/riva if u want to go more than 1G...

While armed with a hacksaw 'n file I did a little digging in my storage box of miscellaneous heatsinks... It's not exactly pretty but should yield loads better VRM temps when coupled with a YL D80SH-12 (80mm fan) than the baseplate of the stockcooler people commonly use with GPU waterblocks.

I figure these should be enough for VRM cooling... Now I only need little something special for the memories.

brilliant largon... cant wait to see your results.. i've got an old northbridge cooler here waiting to go on mine...:)

Can we expect the next rev. of riva tuner soon? lovin my asus 4890 tweak. Running very solid at 1ghz core. Could squeeze more if asus smart doctor would go above 1ghz. Please ATI or Asus give us some head room, say 1050Mhz.

very nice looks stock

Just picked up two MSi 4890 OC cards from ewiz. should be in next week at some point. UPS is slow these days...

Lulz.
Looks like there will be no updates regarding the card in the pics a few posts back.
Now I'm contemplating wheater to do some skeet shooting with the card or find the biggest hammer and punch a hole in it.

Suggestions?

aww m8.... is it dead.....????

im sure unwinder will include 4890/4770 in the next riva..meanwhile if u need to bump more than 1G, u can still user riva tuner but u need to extract + drop this cfg file in riva tuner 2.24 installation folder...eg. c:\Program Files/Rivatuner 2.24

Yup.
And ofcourse, I'm not even going to RMA it as it was my fault, although I'm not sure what I did to kill it. Likely ESD.

Dude if you killed it, you still can RMA it, just dont tell them you were the cause of the failure.
