hi guys,

is it possible for my cpu to handle a 64-bit OS??? reason i ask is i just updated from 1gb of ram to 4gb and need the 64 bit to be able to utilise the whole ram as it is only showing 2.6gb

its an AMD sempron mobile 3200+ 1.6ghz ,

i am currently using vista home premium 32 - bit and also need to know how east it is to upgrade to the 64 bit version (preferably for free ;) )

I'm not sure if the chip is capable of running VIsta 64, but if your Home Premium key is legit you can download Vista Premium 64 or order the disk from Microsoft for a few bucks and use the same key without issues I believe.

Quick answer, no.

Long answer, Post back a screenshot of the main tab of CPU-z. You can download it @ www.cpuid.com

EDIT: Originally I did a quick scan and missed a question in your OP, yes your 32 bit Vista key will work to activate Home Premium 64,but ONLY Home Premium 64!

your CD key will workj in 64 bit vista as people have said, so long as its the same version (home premium, in your case)

We will need a screenshot of CPU-Z, in order to say if the CPU has 64 bit support.

That's what we are searching for. I do stand corrected, 64 bit will work ok for you.

aren't there a lot of compatability issues with Vista 64 still???

nope iv run it for quite some time now 64bit ultimate its faster runs more smoothly and is totally stable..not to mention i have had no compatability issues. Vista gets a bad rep i know i beta tested it and it blew...but in all honesty if you take the time to get used to the layout etc its a very nice OS

64-bit running here, no issues. You'll probably hear this from many a person.

64 bit on three systems, never had any problems since ATI too, realtemp and a few others got signed drivers.
