Hey guys,

I have a serious problem. I make it as short as possible:

  • system runs 100 % fine with the 10.12
  • updatet to Catalyst 11.1 -> BSoD
  • updatet to 11.1 Hotfix -> BSoD
  • rollback to 10.12 -> BSoD
  • removed ALL AMD files manually, installed 10.12 -> BSoD
  • Temps are fine
  • no sfc /scannow errors
  • no chkdsk errors
  • Prime, Furmark all fine
  • regardless what driver I install -> BSoD
  • I did no hw changes, no OC

Here are my BSoDs I receive:
  • 0x0000010e
  • 0x1000007e
  • 0x0000007e
  • 0x0000004e
  • 0x0000003b
  • dxgmms1.sys
  • PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

They all refer to the GPU of course ...

From now on I receive a BSoD every time I try to play a game (especially BC2 and SC II) even if I completely remove the old driver and make a clean install.
Apparently the 11.1 damaged my system irreparable.

Any advice or info would be very much appreciated :)

those errors are all over the place, afew including 0x0000004e & PFN_LIST_CORRUPT point at faulty memory or incorrect memory settings. try running superpi at 32M or if using prime95 make sure its the multi core version but i have used prime95 before with some memory which was faulty and it was fine but didnt pass on superpi so its worth a test.
if you have 2 sticks of memory try 1 at a time.

I did a few memtest runs (6 hrs) this night but with no errors. I will try Pi later.

The 11.1 by the way is an error source. As soon as I switch to 3D I get a BSoD. But theoretically the driver related errors should be gone after removing it ...

maybe the cards just gone bad, and the timing was a coincidence.

thinking that the driver caused the issues even after its removal is a pretty big leap there.

my diagnosis steps would be checking the PSU for failure (no, dont assume its fine, dont skip this test) and then testing with a spare video card.

can you be specific on the time that the BSOD appear?
like on heavy or multi tasking? is that randomly happened or something that indicate the err from apps?
personally, i would check my ram first to make sure theres no err on that, or try to chnage the slot and clean the contact area
it the problem stay, try to clean install the appas or the OS
i hope it helps

@Mussels
Thanks, when I get home I will try a few torture tests.

@micropage
All that happened just after updating to 11.1. After that I can't play a game anymore without one of the abovementioned BSoD. 3DMark 11 runs fine, but apps like BC2 or Starcraft II fail after a few minutes.
Now the most common error is the dxgmms1.sys event.

Before I went to work today I did a quick test with Prime -> BSoD
Removed a RAM -> runs fine
Put it back in -> runs fine

Maybe the Prime test later will give some results.
I did a format c: just 3 weeks ago ... :mad:

could have been the ram slot contacts perhaps.
try running prime 95 again with them both in there, and if it fails, or bsod then pull 1 out, run it again... if it fails, swap the stick you have in there, with the one you took out, run prime 95 again....if it doesn't fail....you may have your culprit, the ram stick that is now on your desktop :p you can test that ram stick that "failed in p95" back in and burn a memtest 86 cd and run that overnight, see if it errors. but sometimes memtest wont show errors :/ its just good to test

deffo faulty memory then, dont bother with memtest its pretty useless and memory needs to be properly nafted for it to show up most of the time.

also make sure your memorys voltage is set correct (not on auto)

I just raised the Command Rate from 1 to 2 and the timings from 7-7-7 to 9-9-9, now it runs so far.

Also the 11.1 a runs fine too (so far). But it's really weird. Just changing the CR seems too simple ...

its no different to running your CPU 200Mhz faster than stock - its 'just changing' the multiplier one notch.

Ram may need 1.7v to run at its XMP profile, due to being AMD platform. Also Mussels meant timings.

Ah ok.

I thought 1,65 being enough. Now I leave it at 9-9-9-2T and 1,65 until I get a new freeze.

First off this is what I went through once I installed them 11.1 drivers . BSOD till I had to reinstall the OS .
It seems that some maybe missing the point here this STARTED for you after you installed the 11.1 drivers and then as it would seem you are getting them after a clean install of the old drivers . Correct ? If so have you wiped the HDD and did a clean install of the OS ?
If not then I would do this before thinking your cards are going out .

Yes if I wouldn't have formatted my HDD 4 weeks ago I would have done that.
But I still hope fo fix this the soft way.

Good luck I could not . I had to format and reinstall OS . Nothing worked at all . Every time I went to install the old drivers I would get a BSOD and Error after Error .
I think you may have the same issue till you wipe the HDD and reinstall the OS . JMHO . Good luck .
