all the 9600GT are the same right down to the memory with the exceptions of the heatsinks, capacitors and bundle.

Reading the reviews for the MSI, they say the fan is full speed until the drivers kick in.

apparently MSI doesn't have very good RMA so I wouldn't count on a fast return on the rebate on the other hand the Palit has the exact same heatsink (different housing) plus Tomb Raider Anniversary and the extra ports but doesn't include the cables which can cost up to $10 each.

8800GS man, it can OC like mad, and can beat a 9600GT when ya OC it to make up for its ram problems, while you can't do much for the lack of shader power on the 9600GT

yea you can OC the 8800GS but that means a lot more heat and a shorter life of the card plus possibly destroying the card. the 9600GT runs very well with AA, and even has been tested to run better than the 3870 with AA on.

that is what ive read as well. plus it has "newer" technology than the 8800 series. not that it means that much these days.

The GS's problem is the 1600mhz DDR3, crank that to 2000 and you have near 8800GT power also. Its not a lack of shader power, its a lack of bandiwth. And the Evga card carries 1ns ram.

well the 9600GT kills a stock 8800GS in pixel fillrate, and memory bandwith. but the GS has 50% more shaders to tinker with, and pretty much everyone ive heard from can get the memory to 2000mhz. so it really depends what you want/what you run.

The superclock has 1900mhz DDR3, and a 650MHZ GPU.

I am now considering the 8800gs based on W1zzard's review on it.

edit: nm, the 384mb does suffer at 1680x1050

even then get a 1gb 8800gt from palit
