Hardware Canuck’s has a small preview of the upcoming revision of the 8800 GTS thanks to EVGA and their soon to be launched 8800GTS 112 SP SSC Edition which as the name suggest features 112 shaders over 96 in the current models. They’re working on a full review of the card and at the moment the only benchmark available is of Crysis under DX10.
The card itself has 640MB of DDR3 memory and it has the same 320-bit memory interface as the old 8800 GTS, but the extra shaders boost the performance quite nicely, although it’s less than 1fps faster than the EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked edition in Crysis at 1,600x1,200 which isn’t really that impressive.
None the less, it’s a step in the right direction although expect to pay a small price premium for these cards over the current 8800 GTS, at least to start with. You can find the quick preview at Hardware Canuck’s here
