There are some people that have no luck with these or any other drivers too!

Then it sounds like it's a problem with the card itself or some other software issue.

ah ok, well thats good for me:D kinda

Definitely good for ya.. some people are reporting HUGE improvements in Dirt2 with their 5970's!!! :toast:

Not true. I get an increase just using one of my 5850's. I've read other forums too. There are some people that have no luck with these or any other drivers too! Looks like one or two people in this thread with single cards got a performance increase. Perhaps you should find out on your ATi card what you get?

Ahh, cool thanks for the heads-up. I've read Guru3d and Anandtech so far.. gotta hit [H] and few others!

From [H] on Crysis and a single 5870:

Tried these real quick in Crysis to see if the performance boost I've been hearing about for a while is there. Results of 2 quick runs on the level Recovery with old drivers:

2009-12-17 14:26:42 - Crysis
Frames: 735 - Time: 23413ms - Avg: 31.392 - Min: 27 - Max: 36
2009-12-17 14:27:10 - Crysis
Frames: 496 - Time: 14933ms - Avg: 33.215 - Min: 30 - Max: 37

And new drivers:

2009-12-17 14:35:08 - Crysis
Frames: 1620 - Time: 51927ms - Avg: 31.197 - Min: 20 - Max: 39
2009-12-17 14:36:08 - Crysis
Frames: 533 - Time: 16139ms - Avg: 33.025 - Min: 29 - Max: 36

System is an i7 920 @3.8ghz HT OFF 6gb DDR3 ASUS 5870 stock

WORSE with 9.12's!!!

Zubasa, how did you manage that OC on ur CPU, didnt know that the X4 810's could go that high!
The only thing that stops the 810 from keeping up with a 965 (C2) is its HT base clock ;)
They are the same chip after all.

It is the same as saying that an i7 920 couldn't OC ;)
It can, but it is just much more differcult, because everything else must manage to keep up with the Base Clock.
Alot of with multipliers and voltages to mess with. :ohwell:

How can you say its worse when the 4 results are based on 4 different scenes. Just look at the time and total frames.

The only thing those results show is that there isn't a dramatic difference in performance.

Tried out these 9.12 officials and same issue as the beta's for me ...CCC looses focus of the slave card...looses fan control and wont show tempratures...uninstalled and cleaned up and back on the 9.11's...I was afraid this would be the issue ...next ones will be good ..for me.

Right.. sorry about that, it was just an oversight, so I asked that poster to re-do the tests. Hopefully he'll repost new results.

Just had a play through in crysis, same shit, stutters like hell but when i sit still, the framerte iz smooth, ATI you seriously suck at drivers, but im not goin to blame them just yet as I want to try 2 more things, update the bios on my card and reconnect the pci e connectors on my card, see if that helps, if not, Nvidia here we come.

would anyone wanna swap me for 2 HD5850's or 2 GTX285's for my XFX HD5970

Ill trade yah a 5870 and a 4850 not that they'll Xfire but I'll still trade them:)

I wouldn't get to frustrated yet but...... That is when people start overlooking things. Now these are the first real drivers for the 5970.... so remember the 5800's have been getting upgrades for awhile now. Also if you think back the 9.9 Beta's and the 9.10 real drivers both sucked for the 5800. 3 Driver set's later we finally got some great drivers (for us at least)

Also It might be the card bud. Have you tested it on another PC maybe to find out? Do you have any other ATI cards???? Try switching them out with the same drivers to see if you get the same problems.
My comment that it might be the card...... Is based off the fact that I hate XFX making ATI cards. Some people swear by them but I bought (before my HIS 4850) an XFX 4850 that actually burned up so hot that burned up some of the Heat sink on it. That card caused so many problems for my computer it still doesn't work like it used too. So I gave that computer to my Mom LOL (god I'm an Ars hole) My hole point is that their cards are not all that..... Try RMA the card and see if that helps... too.
You might also want to uninstall and reinstall very carefully...... Have you tried the 9.12 Hot fix yet? I just look around and am noticing a lot of other people having success with your same card. There has got to be another factor...... than the I just hate ATI syndrome.

Good Luck :D

LMAo true dat, anythings better than this shit card!

Contact XFX for a RMA. Right now you're running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Your card has fail. It happens from time to time. Use that great XFX warranty. :toast:

Chaos Killa I am not talking about you with this next comment.....

I really do wonder though how many people complain about shit drivers though...... and it's really the person's fault apposed to the Drivers or the company. I would have to say at Min about 50%.

Maybe not in this forum but just in General. I would also have to say that I bet 80% of the problems that happen with Hardware just in general are...... User assembly problems. Just a generalization not Directed at anyone at all!!!

+1 I bet you will have a much better experience after you get the new card back! :D

I would trade for both actually but I live in Aus, plus I dont wanna give you or anyone else a dodgey card.

There is no XFX in australia, I have tried multiple times to register support on the XFX site, it does not work, I mean I try to register and nothing happens, just goes back to the same page, tried it with firefox, IE and chrome, atill nothing, I have no other way of contacting them, only by online but it wont let me register and no I havent left anything blank in filling in the registration so Im kinda bummed.

There's a 9.12 hotfix now. I had a problem with it but it could of been Afterburner interfering.

I wouldn't trade anything for a card that needs a replacement.
