Hello,
Recently I came across Solaris17 his 8500/8600/GT/GTS Mod Guide and noticed the timing sets part in the thread. Now I've flashed my graphic card aswell, but I never really looked into the memory timings, so I decided to check what alternative timing sets Nibitor provided me with.
I found timing set 4 to be the fastest, but those timings are a lot tighter than my default ones. I've OC'd the graphic memory from 900MHz to 1050MHz (memory modules are rated 1000MHz), unfortunately at 1080MHz the card started to artifact.
As the difference between stable, tested with atitool + furmark, and unstable is just 30MHz, how would the tighter timings affect the stability? Is there any way to test the timing set instead of just blindly select it and flash my graphic card (I know, not smart)? In Solaris17 his guide he basicly just tells to select the timings and flash, I don't get that.
I've got no experience with GDDR timings yet, but I want to get the most out of my card (I thought about Vmodding aswell, but I got a 9600gt with the tight OCP protection, any suggestions on this are welcome aswell)
Thanks in advance,
-iDont
edit:
It's an Asus EN9600GT HTDI, the memory is air cooled yet stays cool. It's flashed to 750/1925/1025 (core/shaders/mem) clocks.
