ok, for those in the know...

I'm running 2x7900GS (SLI). Worth the $100 to jump here?

Yes.

7900GTX SLI isn't as fast in new games as a single 8800GT (9800GT is the same thing apart from 3-way SLI)

Yup. I had 2 X 7900GT's voltmodded to 7900GTX speeds and running SLI. They couldn't touch my single 8800GT. The 9800GT is just an 8800GT.

Well 2 X 9800GT in SLI will give you close to or better than GTX280 which is $450. But it depends on what resolution you game at and what games you play. If you want to do 1900X1200 in Crysis then 2 X 9800GT would serve you well :toast:

Thanks greatly for the info and input guys. I jumped a little sideways and went

. Little better speed, and keeps me from being tempted to try to snag two of the Canucks' cards :) I'll keep an alert on that one from the Egg, and maybe snag a second next spring.

That card is a 8800GTS G92 core and not the 8800GT is why :)

Good card but the 280GTX isn't much more (when on offer it was as low as $179.99 if i remember right, its now around $200~) and the 9800GTX is below $200 now also....given the choice of a 9800GTX or the 8800GTS I'd take the GTX all day long as it usually clocks higher, even if it does cost a few more $'s :toast:
