I get my 4870 x2 cooler tommorrow, from what I have read on the internet is the x2 cooler does not have the problem with heatsinks as this one does, but I will find out tomorrow when it comes in the mail, hope it is worth it.

Got mine in yesterday, got it installed today without a hitch. Took a little bit of time to get everything cleaned up, decided to even use the provided backplate. So far pretty damn good results, all I have to compare to is folding, stopped about 50% thru a 511pt WU, one of the heavier stressing WU's. It hits 45C load compared to almost 68C load on the stock cooler @ 70% fan speed. Pretty healthy difference, it was idling at 36C compared to the stock cooler's 42C @ 70%. Granted I did crank the speed up to 100% on this cooler, in my HAF it's very tolerable, I still have the choke squeel during heavy loads like that certain WU, but I expected that.

VRM-wise, I was idling at about 42C, a couple degrees warmer stock, loading about 65-67C which is +/-1C from stock. So thus far I'm good to go, I'm running 666/1458 1188 on 1.06v on a 65nm 216core GTX260 and the temps are top notch...too bad it took me about 11 months to get the cooler I wanted for my GTX260 lol. But so far very happy, everything stuck on and aligned well w/o mods, no extra purchases, I think the VRM plate could've been better, kinda dissapointing, but it's getting the job done atm, so no complaints, the core runs a helluva lot cooler, the memory also does as it generally matched the temps of the GPU, now it's around 34-36C between idle and load. Ambient temps are also down from around 38-48C to 34-36C same as the memory. Sorry for no screenies, I might grab some with the new cooler eventually, but gonna let this fold and do some gaming tomorrow.

One thing I was dissapointed it was the contact patch size only being about 70% the size of the GPU itself, and the contact patch of MX-2 was only about 2/3 of that or so. I had my doubts, but I wanted to try it as-is out of the box and see my results...so I was suprised and very content with my purchase after it was all assembled. Thanks again for the sweet review and discussion thread OnBoard, I hope the 55nm adapting goes well for those of you getting this cooler.

I cannot believe how big of a difference overclocking wise this has made my card is crazy fast now with this cooler. However , a waring if you don't have a black PCB board get ready to modify your install, have your hack saw and dremel ready at hand. Cut that large heatsink in half and all will be well.

What exactly are those yellow ones? Good thing i have two heatsinks left :)

So this means I am going to have to re-thermal paste up the gpu then right? Seeing how I have to take off the main sink.

Not a must, you can remount fine with the supplied paste second time. I did it in my review earlier and didn't affect temps a bit. Third time I took it apart I changed the paste though :)

The "yellow" ones are for the memory power supply. Don't know what they do exactly.

Yep, that one should be fine, has quite nice heatsinks supplied. There is a thread in the ATI forum, but no-one has provided pics, so I'm counting on you to do that :) (I remember that you said something about it)

Probably has the same holes, like the earlier one with cooler mount on top. But you can always drill closer holes if they are too far. hole to hole distance 54.6mm and 59mm so measure how far apart the holes are.

I cannot believe how big of a difference overclocking wise this has made my card is crazy fast now with this cooler.

Nice that you get to enjoy the cooler as well, after all the heatsink trouble :)

Nice to see some GTX 260 results finally. I was expecting the VRM results to be much better that with GTX 280, but those temps are pretty sweet :rockout:

Agree on the paste amount, could have been a bit more, but better like this than half card filled on paste. GPU it self is smaller than Accelero base, only the heatspreader is so huge. Thanks to you too contributing and for the support thread :)

WARNING, GPU porn below, GTX 280 naked!
http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,...959528&article_id=672346&page=2&show=original

So basically paste needed just on the text area, but a bit wider.

So I just assembled my GTX280 with an Arctic Cooling Accelero GTX280. I bought the set of Enzotech sinks and a set of scythe sinks as mentioned in the article. When I run Furmark my VRMs get up to like 114C. I have no idea why my results are so off. I cut about 3-3.5 mm off each sink so it would fit on the VRM and I used the included thermal paste/pad things. Any ideas why my results on the VRMS are so much worse? Otherwise my GPU temp is fantastic, 56C max.
