Ten years after me hiding under desks and in cupboards, Creative Assembly have confirmed that a sequel is in development!
I'm a gluten for punishment, so bring it on.

TITLE:

Alien 2 - Replay

I wonder if they will continue the story or start a new from a comic

Loved the original, made me crap my pants on many occasions, sadly it got a bit repetitive by the end which also dragged on a bit too much.

I've always loved the Alien franchise, so naturally was very excited to play Alien Isolation. At first I was loving it, then I realized it had a very big flaw IMO. The Alien is far too limited with restricted search patterns and even not looking to the side very much. This means it's very easy to hide from, you can literally retreat into a room when you hear it coming, go off to one side, and it will march straight in and back out without even looking to either side. There's also a round table and chairs in one room, and all you have to do is crouch behind a chair.

Some hated the Working Joes, but I always thought they were harder to evade, and not easy to fight either. I ended up playing more than once on the hardest mode, and never had to use the distraction tools. So while I'm excited about a sequel, I'm not confident they will fix this glaring problem, because no one seems to even notice or talk about it. That said, I wouldn't mind at all if the sequel follows the scenario of the 2nd movie a bit, meaning just encountering numerous Aliens, vs just one. At least then there'd be legit challenge, even if less suspense.

Fair comment, but it always managed to find me!

Cool. I never actually finished the first game, and it deserves my attention. I'm about 10 hours in and was loving it but I need to be in the right mood to play it and got distracted by other things.

I think a dark winter weekend with nobody else around to interrupt or distract me from the incredible immersion that Alien Isolation can bring will be a weekend well spent.

I'm not sure after the trauma of the first game, that I'd be seriously looking at the sequel.....crapped too many times playing the first one to wanna try again.

Alien Isolation is fun but i want more of other alien or aliens game, e.g Fireteam Elite is fun and is gettig a sequel, dark descent is so awesome i finished it 3x
and Aliens vs Predator is 14 years old and i remember it uses tessellation heavily on the models which until today still looks good and we are due for another

Will it have RT/PathTracing, HDR ? For a dark environnement game it's a question that comes to mind !

Honestly, the decade old lighting of the first game is fantastic. Path tracing generally looks garbage in dark environments because shadows always crawl unnaturally as there simply aren't enough light rays to trace in low-light situations to make an even image.

The crawling is the low number of ray counts not being enough to get smoothed out to a steady average by the temporal denoiser. The absolute last thing anyone wants in a game that's about hiding in the shadows is to have shitty shadows that crawl around distractingly.
