Competition for Crysis & Co?
Aliens vs. Predator: System Requirements of the DirectX 11 game revealed
The system requirements of the forthcoming Aliens vs. Predator action game have apparently been released. Aliens vs. Predator is supposed to hit markets in February. Now the system requirements of the action game have been revealed.

Minimum Requirements: Aliens vs. Predator
• Windows 7/ XP/Vista
• 1 GB System RAM (XP)/ 2 GB System RAM (Vista)
• 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4/Athlon 64 3000+ or equivalent processor
• DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 128 MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better, ATI X1600 or better)

Recommended Requirements: Aliens vs. Predator
• Windows 7/ XP/Vista
• 2 GB System RAM
• Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 or equivalent processor
• DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB RAM (NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI HD2900 PRO or better)

It is interesting that the system requirements don't list DirectX 11 hardware although Aliens vs. Predator makes use of the latest DX version. The game caught a lot of attention recently when it had been announced that Aliens vs. Predator won't be released in Germany and when there had been problems with the Australian authorities. If you want to know more about the new AvP game, you might want to take a look at our interview with Rebellion's Kevin Floyer Lea (Aliens vs. Predator (PC) supposed to kick consoles‘ ass - at least technology wise).

I am really looking forward to this games release, despite the fact that I have no DX11 hardware (yet), I have the origional version from about 3 or 4 years ago and that was really good.

Ill be glad when the DX9c compliant goes away. Games will probably be so much better if they dont have to code for 9 users anymore.

Yup..... but it wont for a while yet :rockout:

This game looks sick!:rockout:

well at least it looks like it should scale well with those low min requirements - my main worry was going to be the engine being super inefficient since there is a simultanious console release, but this is at least promising.

I just wish they'd do another system spec for games which says what you'll need to be able to max it at say 1920x1200, instead of the reccomended which really just handles medium settings...

Any news of this game being able to load more than 2 cores? I guess I'll do some googling.

I agree. They should add a "maxed" requirements column that tells exactly what you need in order to run it with every single option to the max at a HD resolution and still get 60+ FPS.

If the graphics that were shown from the game in the past are true and those requirements are real than the optimization that went in the game is amazing. I:respect: to the coders.

but then they'd need a 'maxed' field for 24 FPS, 30 FPS, 60FPS, at 1280x1024, 1280x720, 1920x1080, 2560x1600, and so on.

they keep it minimal because theres just too many damned combinations. (EG, what if you have a lower CPU, but better video card?)

i will wait im not going to count my chickens before they hatch example Saints Row 2 on PC its requirments were fairly low but even a Quadcore and a GTX 285 couldnt run the game for crap struggling along at 15fps so ill wait these requirments mean nothing till we get to test the game on are hardware

Developers can't really spend the time benching a game when it's this close to going gold. After it releases you'll have access to millions of benchmarks from every possible system config. I never listen to official system requirements. When I get bored I like to time travel through random forums to the Pre-Crysis era and read the delightful anticipation of people to bought "a shiny new 8600gts to play Crysis in full DX10 glory".

lol 8600gts  what a hunk of junk

Exactly my point. You can't base expected performance from official requirements.

which is exactly why i said ill wait as im not about to count my chickens before they hatch

I wonder if they'll offer a benchmark mode before the game releases. I've seen SEGA do this before so if they're confident in their optimizations I can see them releasing one to boost awareness.

well they have said they'll release a demo so i'd assume there would be a benchmark built into that (hopefully).

Oh! I didn't know that. I think there will most definately be a benchmarking mode included then. If not we can just run thorough the demo and bench with FRAPS.. Then make a nice table or just spam a thread like this one with screenshots of results.

I wonder what kind of framerate you'd get with a Pentium 4, 1GB of RAM and a 128MB video card...big difference between being able to run it and it being playable (30fps)

Depends on the res I suppose maybe all settings on LOW and 800x600. If the engine scales well maybe people will rock this shit on netbooks

Crysis run suprisingly well on older hardware when you turn everything down (like WAY down), this might be the same thing. But as Crysis was little more than eyecandy, it was pointless. But as this is frikkin' AvP (loved the first game to bits, haven't played #2 for some reason) it should be a solid game even without the fancy graphics. :)

That's true. IMO Crysis without the graphics was just a really bar game with a crap story and shit AI.

I don’t know about the game…on one hand I can’t wait and on the other…it’s fucking Rebellion that made it…come on! They’ve only made one ‘decent’ game imo and that was Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squad.

from what I heard (due to AMD's version the way it's meant to be bribed :toast: program) the game will scale on quad even @ Full HD
