Hello everyone.

A week ago or so i preorder a game (FIFA22) which i got delivered yesterday, played/tested it for a few hours and i wasn't happy, so only option is to return it, thing is that i had a doubt about how it works returning a game which is just an empty Box with a code inside.
So, because i am an Amazon customer for over 10 years and i am a serious person i called Amazon and explained/tell them that i was thinking to return the Game but before i wanted to know how would they deal if i was someone else who was willing to return the Game but before copy the code and then send the box with the original code back.
They couldn't give an answer, i've explained my point to 5 different guys from customers service and still nothing, they just told me that they understand my point and that if i want to return the Game i have every right to do so.

What do you people think about this?

Guessing this is going to vary by region but in the united states digital items once received/redeemed are not returnable to amazon.

normally, if youve already activated/registered the game key then you cant refund it unless its from sites like Steam, EA Origin or GoG who can remove the game off your account for you.

Do you have any local organization that deals with things like returns and customer rights that you can ask for guidance? We have that here at least.
Games in general is a bit 50-50. If they have any kind of one-time-use activation code, then your right to return is basically void when you enter it.
If however there is no such lockout or DRM, then generally you can return them like any other product, since they are still just as usable to the next person as a new one is.

Typical customer service, they’re just doing what they’re told I wouldn’t expect any useful information or answer from them regarding this matter

As for me , I think they have conditions set automatically in the system, that automatically shows the customer service if a purchase is refundable or not ,a few lines of codes to verify your purchase history, where you’re from , and the amount of refund and the code decides, the customer service employee acts

If it's a box then I don't think it matters what's inside from some of the Amazon returns I've seen online gtx470's set back in rtx 2080 boxes. Your intent is genuine which is better than most.

In the UK I just get them to phone me. They are pretty good.

I redeemed the code yesterday, the game is from Origin.

It is kinda confusing

I bought this one, Box+Code

And it says:

This one when you buy it you get just the Code per Email

I assume it is a mistake.

then you might have to contact customer support at EA for them to remove the game for you but im not sure how Amazon would deal with it because they have become the middleman in all this.

EA can remove the game but its still down to amazon if they'll take your word and process the refund. I doubt either of them will contact one another to ask if xxxxx game key has been removed from persons said account.

Contact EA and them Amazon

They already asked me if i wanted to change the item or a refund:wtf:

It is not the first time i've corrected Amazon's mistakes, always in my favour, i just call them and tell a mistake has been done.

Keep track of all messages and emails

I just like to do what is right.

Yeah .. not a lot of people do

Some scammers exploit the return option very badly , for example, they purchase a 9900k , delid it , and put the IHS on another cheap old cpu that looks the same ....

The staff don’t have time to test the cpu on a motherboard, and most don’t know what 9900k supposed to look like , so they pass the return product to be sold again

What ends up happening is someone else buying that product, but they end up getting a fake or broken part ... you can imagine the frustration

Amazon and other platforms have such vulnerabilities, and few people like you are not exploiting them which is nice to see

Maybe i wasn't clear enough in my first post.
My point was, what if someone returns the Game but keep a copy of the code.

Return it and see what happens is all you can really do. Worst case they receive the product back notice that you've already redeemed the code and don't issue a refund. My guess is either way you get a refund because Amazon is pretty inept when it comes to returns.

I've received the wrong products multiple times that were likely returns of the wrong items from people being shady.

Will send it back tomorrow.

Hi,
Expensive game if you don't like I would try to return too :-)

if you buy a game that has to be activated via a code, and you activate the code, i don't see how they will accept a return as you are not returning a un used item. It would be too much fucking around for amazon to contact whoever the game is activated with to try and get it removed from your account. Was there no terms along the lines of activation negates return?

Nope.
As i said before i already talked to them, as soon as they get the game delivered ( Box+code ) i get my money back
