AMD 5000+ and FX62 support socket 939

Yeah. This topic really hit a nerve with most on TPU.

I love my two AMD systems that I have right now, but hey if intel will, or who ever makes something nice which I think Conroe is, that doesn't mean I have to wait for AMD to come out with something better, unless if I am a fanboy, which I am NOT.

Hey, NamesDontMatter, did you even read my post... or did you just skim to find two quotes you can take out of context!?!

All I'm saying is that if someone wanted go next gen, it may be a calculated RISK to go AM2 now with a high end mobo and mid-low end CPU. I'm talking Mid to very low.. Sempron even...

So that in possibly 6 months the K8L ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_K8L ) will will overcome the Conroe.

With that in mind, even an AM2 Sempron can play EVERY GAME uot there. Now, a more "mainstream" approach I mentioned was for us 939 owners to stay put.. watch the months go buy then compare Conroe to K8L when both are out. Then make the big switch.

I rather not buy into Intel and half a year, or even 9 months later find out I never should of jumped ship! Also, if K8L sucks so hard it makes me sad to have ever had faith in AMD I'll get a Conroe, and so would many others.

That's what I think at least.

Man, there's no point argueing with a sig like that ^ .
On a side note, "The Arctic Monkeys" are excellent live...

jumped ship................haha your funny fan boy..........this is not a FanBoyPowerup.com

so your saying get AM2 with a sempron which is really cheap like £60, while everyone else has really fast conroe then when K8L is out buy the K8L cpu to go with your current AM2 motherbaord you bought with your sempron

but is K8L fot AM2 of AM3

AMD 5000+ and FX62 support socket 939 ARE AM2 PROCESSORS NOT 939'S

yo DRDNA im interested in a 1920x1080 LCD TV like in your sig, tell me some info on yours also link to website. HDMI ? does it support 1080p or is it 1080i. when connected to computer @ 1920x1080, is it a clear as a normals monitor, can you read text

... .... I'm not sure what to say to you man. Power/price is the deciding factor when buying cpu's. If you don't care about having performance at a good price, you shouldn't really be in this thread.

Just be realistic like Sandman while looking at the benchmarks, and agree that Conroe is the better performer and is better priced for your everyday gamer on a budget. Don't be stubborn and plain ignorant even if you don't plan to buy the Intel Conroe, or buy an AM2, because it doesn't stop the fact that it is the better performer, while costing less in the present.

All I want is for people to admit that yes, Conroe is the better deal if there is one to be had or CPU to be purchased if you build a brand spanking new computer anytime soon.

Fanboy or no, the truth is out there. :)

Can you Read!?!

OMG...! *pulls hair out* Why spend money one something that isn't gonna be a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT right now!?! And don't give me that "benchmark" crap, those are just numbers to fluant around and say look at me. I'm talking real world differences here. Why do you think I have a 3500+!?! I could of spent more an got a Opty 144, or 165... but I didn't.

I'm not saying to go out and buy a sempron.. I'm saying if someone wants to go AM2 in hopes of K8L to do that.. I'm in favor of holding on to my current platform untill BOTH NEXT GEN cores are out. So when i'm gona have to do a tech refresh for my system for DirectX 10 and multi cpu threads and gpu's, just so I can game, I'll have both to compare.

You guys talk like you have all the money in the world.. and that you NEED conroe to even surf the net... Talk about being a slave to the system... Buy this, buy that. Why don't we just give them our bank accounts and be done with it huh? The 939 based systems of today will provide strong performance way into next year. After that, then we'll talk next gen CPUs.

Side note, my sig is just praise to the company. I love building my computers and right now I've had the most fun with my current AMD rig. I used to have an old 478 P4 1.4Ghz before this... so obviously I am happy with AMD right now. Fan boy my @$$, I just refuse to throw money at the something I don't need.

In closing, stay with your old rigs unless they bottleneck you. Both Intel and AMD alike, we just don't need next gen for real world applications.

Oops, I did it again... says The Inkwell. No truth to the FUDo report, as usual.

*major sigh*

I know what it's like to push it to the limit.. I do overclock, lol. (2.6, not much.. but it's mine)

It just angers me when people waist money... I'm upset with anyone who baught a high end AM2 right now aswell. Makes me want to scream, but that's a different subject.. K8 has reached it's limit.

However, I am on a budget.. so it sets me off when ever body wants "the new hotness". lol Dear lord.. spare me.

An enthusiast site this is :)

Pay cheap, play hard. Milk the processor for all it's worth. :rockout:

We're not here telling you to go out and buy the processor, we're just here to tell you what the current best option is if you do.

Now..

Now if I do mange to sell my old rig first, I would more than likely get a conroe T7200 and clock it up about $330 more. lol :rockout:

like..

Like you said, some will upgrade others won't. I'm just giving my opinion which is not to. I'm not saying Conroe isn't an excellent CPU core.. I'm not saying it isn't the most bang for your buck either.

I'm saying I'm broke damn it! lol So to call me a fan boy is way off base.. "Oh look at that poor broke AMD fan, I bet he mindlessly hates intel.. let's poke him...!"

I don't hate intel... I'm not a fan boy... (AMD does not "roxers" in my mind) and I want a conroe.... I'm just so broke I can't justify buying it so early. Sorry if that interrupts your wet dreams if I voice my personal opinion. Take it or leave it, it's just my thoughts, but don't try to insult me just becuase we don't see eye to eye.

**Ser-J, you edited right before I could post this... you made a vaild argument. I'm not sure if you took what i said correctly, but why did you delete it?

The reson I took off that post is because after I posted it there was like 5 post already posted so it looked little outdated. But whatever I get your point.

Tis..

Tis ok man.. Moving on to greener pastures... might I ask who has there eyes on what conroe models? Like I said earlier, I wouldn't mind having a T7200.

Sorry to break your heart but T7200 is a Motorola cellphone. Please stop posting for your own sake.

Unless your talking about the Lappy model a MEROM. P.S Merom aint Conroe, Conroe refers to desktop variant. This the dumbest discussion ever. This is my last post in this discussion.

Thankyou

sigh...

Sorry to confuse you further, but meron is the mobile conroe... and I'll tkae a mobile CPU any day becuase of heat issues. Take a Turion for example, low power, low heat, great overclocker for the 754 socket.

Sure it's hard to find a good cooling solution for an exposed die, but well worth it.

So pardon me if your ego has been hurt... it's called a typo. Shoot me, my I'm out of here.

Merom is refered to as Merom not Conroe, yes I know it is the mobile variant I am not stupid, I have most likely done much more research on Conroe (and Merom) then most other people here. Also why do you think Conroe runs hot, have you even looked for temps yet? As we all know Desktop chips DO NOT run hot if you have the right cooling.

More importantly, we all know that the "Turion" sucks a big bag of balls, and is like an Athlon 64 in a wheelchair - a broken race horse...

???

I never said Conroe, or that desktop cpus for that matter, run hot. WTF are you taling about?

I'm saying Turions Run cold! I wouldn't say there are a broken race horse, I've used them before! There acctually very amusing to OC with. Or at least I enjoyed it...

At any rate, a person can squeeze 2.8-9 out of a Turion which is very good for a modern(ish) single core on 754. A person could make a very low profile LAN rig with one.
