AMD AM5 / Intel Gen 14 Upgrade

I don't mind that at all, Intel has to step-up their game a bit with power consumption, platform upgradability specially for CPUs and heat issues, if they fix this, we the users will have a lot of fun buying finer products at better prices.

Thank you for the note!! I have only two drives for now, and one good old HDD, I hope the mobo treats me well :D but we will see about the BIOS; I was planning to google it more specially on Reddit to check which one is the best since I will be running 7800X3D.

Thank you so much! I know it will be fun with AMD; In the recent years they got a lot of praise from good reviewers and clients in general, way to go Red Team! Blue team should take serious notes :D

That's why I trust Amazon with that! I had many returns with them and they have been nothing but helpful, usually they can return your cash as a gift card faster than returning it back to the original payment method so I am fine with that and congratulations on the new piece of tech you got! Mine is out for delivery already! YAY!

Glad we can draw a smile on your face mate xD, well for 8 or 9 bucks - cheaper than a tasteless coffee - you get a nice piece of metal that gives you better spreading of thermal paste and a fine-looking aesthetic view! who can say no to that?! xD and btw for LGA1700 the difference is real! I have posted an earlier video about it, maybe you should take a look at it :) LGA1700 thermals act so well as long as you manage the power draw or limit it, unless you find 100 degrees stressed CPU is fine in your case.
do you frequently take the cooler off and look at that plate?

I don't get it lol xD
You said it's aesthetically nice. Well, yes, maybe. But, how frequently you will look there? Maybe even re-paste thing, it's at least once a year if very needed, otherwise maybe once in 3+ yrs lol...

5800X3D easily beats the 12700F in gaming though.
If we use the 12700K as a close analogue to the 12700F, the 5800X3D is a bit faster in aggregate in TPU's test suite, yeah. Pretty close though, with some games favouring one over the other.

The newer test suite has the 12700K marginally above the 5800X3D

It helps better spread of the TP not to go down the sides of the CPU, later on someone mentioned TG thermal guard but it's fine, it's a good add not a so bad one. if it's about looks then PC cases need no niche looks, just slap the hardware down your table and game :D

Minor Update: I have just opened the CPU cooler to find it missing one fan and some pieces of the installation kit - DANG! - I contacted Amazon who told me that I am over the return period so I told them I wanted to contact the seller, the seller contacted me and agreed on the return, he told me he will send me an alternate unit instead of the one I had and I can send back the one I had, not bad!

Waiting for the CPU to come later today also! FINALLY! and on Friday I will pick the RAM, GPU and alternative Cooler I hope *fingers crossed*

which cpu cooler you brought? Sorry I don't remember.

Also Remember to upgrade the bios on your motherboard it might take sometimes and it suddenly restart and than continues the bios upgrade, Asus do that on the Prime X570-P WiFi that I have it's weird and take some time to get use to.

I had Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120SE no rgb, and for the mobo you mean to do so before installing the cpu or upon putting it all together?

Ah if you miss a fan or so you can always lidt your CPU to like 65W or something until you get other fans than you can still the system without it getting really hot.

I usually run only the middle fan on my Noctua NH-D15 and it's not bad temp or noise.

Good thing is that the seller offered me an alternative unit, i will definitely lower the temps using undervolting and PBO - hope i said it right! - and so thrilled for the build!

Uhm.. You might want to change the thread title... "Intel Gen 14 Upgrade"..

Since you went AM5 ?..

Yeah you did, I locked mine to 65Watt it's very easy to cool and the performance I can't feel difference from stock which can use more.

TPU Nation, good morning / evening whereever you are located :D who wants an update?
I just landed an amazing deal for the mobo, thanks to BF deals on Amazon, the currency is in AED but I will calculate it for you in USD to make it easier for you to follow.

The motherboard was originally for 350.94USD, it went down to 242.93USD!! I didn't think twice specially it was the last piece from that seller - *fingers crossed nothing is wrong with it lol!*

One the order was done, it went up spiking to 374.63USD

I am waiting on the deals for CPU and RAM; I have missed the CPU deal on MicroCenter for 288USD for 7800X3D but having high hopes now that from Amazon, gonna keep you posted.

Out and Over! :peace::toast:
Hi,
x3d is good move

For that deal I had on the mobo even If I hated AMD, I would have done it :D I got some good news about other stuff but waiting to get them first; I didn't have such an adventure for a long long LONG time.

I will definitly PM you for details then! thank you so much and wish you happy gaming all the time :D

That makes it two of us xD what field of IT?!

That makes it two of us xD what field of IT?!

My main thing is IT Support but I worked with specially hardware for over 20 years now and getting old trying to teach the younger generation at work how I do things even when it comes to Microsoft 365 the main head sometimes.

Awesome! then AMD marketing team are gods!!

Not surprised!; I used to work with Amazon CS team so long ago, more than 16 years ago maybe, we always faced such issues and more! their policy is user-friendly + now when I buy many times I get empty bags, wrong items. Glad it got sorted out and you got refunded!

It's here! came well-protected.

Asus does not anymore seals their mboards boxes.

I have it, with 7800x3d and 4070ti, RAM is Kingston XMP (not his EXPO variant) 6000-32. Feels perfect setup (to me).

IT IS a perfect setup sir!! What resolution amd refresh rate are you gaming at?

OLED 27" 1440p 240hz monitor, it's perfect.

For games not going up to 240 FPS, i lock framerate to 120 (not hz).

Xmas came early this year xD

The cooler was out of stock, seller sent me that one

I would like to thank all of TPU members for the help, support and guidance for the setup, I need to put it together now and might post it on PCPP later xD

It staggers me how you bought the best gaming CPU, mighty powerful cooler, well shaped DDR5, and paired that with the puniest next-gen GPU possible. 4070 Ti is the least to expect in such a rig xD

My plan was a stronger card but nV did nasty with the pricing of 4000, then we got SUPER cards coming. That tiny 4060 is temp till I see how things go in the future, it will serve me well for now.

Have you seen 4090 prices now? Imagine that in the 4000 series the card that's providing best PpP ratio is MSRP for 1599USD with no taxes yet... not to mention 4080 pricing, capped 4070 series with memory bandwidth, I got 4060 for now and trying to be optimist about nV next move.
