DUDE ! I had to reinstall my fucking OS because the drivers gave me 3 BSOD !!! Now just how the hell is that my fault ? What I DL the drivers I uninstall the " Old ones " I install new ones how hard is that ? This was nothing more than a DRIVER issue that fucked my OS no end and you say I have no computer skills ? Just what the fuck was I supposed to do write the code my self ? I mean you make it sound as if I should have ! You got lucky I have 2 HD5770 cards and it was a complete fubar for me ! Just because some one els may not have the same issue as me is irrelevant as well maybe they have a core i7 i5 or newer setup look at my spec's ! I tried to install them the same fucking way I have been for years and now my skills are in question? I do not think so !

Sorry I sound so PO'ed but man this is just wrong on all levels in my book .

you have proof that its the drivers? you're gunna feel dumb if it turns out its just a stick of ram gone bad, or your OC becoming unstable.

Umm well if you mean DID I take a picture of the ERROR messages and all that NO . But I have reinstalled the OS and reinstalled the 10.10e drivers and it is all working fine now .
I tried to install the 10.10e drivers when it BOSD on me the 3rd time but I was getting failures such as Error message INF file not located ( Some thing like that ) and unable to install CCC . and driver unable to install . It was a mess ! I could not even take out the driver at all . Some thing was keeping me from uninstalling ATI drive and here is the kicker when I looked at the file it was keeping it was ATI 10.12 support ! It was a mess man . Every thing is fine now and I have no intention of installing any drivers other than the ones that I have now till I replace these cards with nVidia . So if there is a problem with my RAM I am DEAD sure that it would have came up installing the OS . I am convinced that it was the drivers and nothing els .

1. the betas have no ID, so they show the version of the last installed official driver.

2. did you use driver cleaner/sweeper? if you used that first, it causes screwups - if you use it AFTER trying to official uninstaller, it fixes screwups.

3. well RAM etc can show up randomly, but if the BSOD was stating missing INF files for the ATI drivers, then its quite likely it was a driver installation issue.

No I used ( Like I have since 10.6 drivers ) ATI's own built in uninstaller .
Then I tried to use driver sweeper once it FAILED on me .

Yes it was after the BSOD that I started to see the inf files missing and the unable to install driver .

if it was 11.1a, you can hardly complain - its a beta. and if you think that even betas/hotfixes should be held accountable, dont forget nvidias awesome drivers that killed hardware by turning the fans off.

All I know is I DL the ones FROM ATI's HOME page . The 11.1 as I recall .
Well one thing is for sure I am done updating drivers . I am not going to do it any more for ATI's crap ! I will stick with the 10.10e's and once I can off load these cards get back to what works better for me nVidia has never let me down nor screwed my OS up like this did . I will soon be saying good by ATI Hello old friend . Man I miss my gtx 260 .

well i've certainly had nvidia drivers screw up on me, as well as their hardware.

dont switch because of one problem, or you'll regret it when you suffer new ones under nvidia.

Yeah I think you maybe right . The fact that the HD5770's have been very good to me under the 10.10e drivers and very fast too kinda makes me want to keep them . I will be doing just that . I will however NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER Change these drivers again ! I am sticking with what works and that is no JOKE .
Thank You Mussels . I am glad you were here to help me through this . the others wanted to make me fell like I was a noob and put my skills in question ( this just pissed me off ) Sorry for my anger I am over it and keeping things like they are .
Again Thank You Mussels :respect::respect: You are the island of reality in the sea of shit that I must swim around in .. :toast:

Any idea which string is holding the tessellation settings? I'm starting a project where i'll deliver monthly full Catalyst packages with MLAA, Surface Optimization, Texture Quality and Tessellation settings already pre-enabled so anyone can use them with HD5000 series. But i just miss the Tessellation slider setting.
Any idea which value it is? Or if it's even possible to get it for HD5000 series.

That part of the post was so un-necessary.

See it is comments like this that piss me off .

Ignore the comments and just report them. Don't snap back at them; it'll just get you or them infracted or worse; and, it does not help the problem.

Wrong. No problems here.

I had no problems, either, but, it does not mean others don't. Software, drivers, and such installed can cause conflicts, remove\delete\erase registry pointers and setting that can fubar a install later.

And how did I not help you? I even posted instructions on obtaining and using a free cleaner.

And, this group of software is the biggest offender, if not used with caution.
For, instance, Revo UnInstaller deleted the reg settings AMD\ATi installer for me and I had to re-build the registry section. It was not ATi's or Revo's fault, it was mine, as I did not take time to really see what was being deleted.( this was on a beta build about a year ago; but, it does happen )

I am all good now . Every thing is as it was before the big fuck up 11.1 drives and I am fine now . I have NO INTENTIONS OF EVER CHANGING THESE DRIVERS OUT ! Not till I upgrade my video cards . This is for sure . I learned my lesson well .

Um what lesson is that exactly? And yeah with a 5850 you probably don't ever want/need to change. Despite you annoyingly freaking out and misplacing blame I'm glad all's well now.

And at Viper of course people are going to have problems these are complex devices with infinite variations of software setups and configs. What I won't stand for is people blaming AMD when they have major issues that clearly are not across the board and furthermore so when people claim they have a totally different and perfect experience with Nvidia and so does everyone else.

I am going to make this my last post on this subject you are right there are many things that can go wrong and all that , But I am not the only one here seeing problems and not the only one that suffered a complete catastrophe from these shit drivers ! So at any rate I leave it at that . Enjoy !

you may not be the only one, but having 2 people with problems out of hundreds/thousands means you're still pretty unique in regards to the drivers sucking.

Yeah I do not doubt you there . But also there seems to be a huge issue with the drivers reporting as different than what they really are , Maybe only a reg issue but seems like some one drop the ball on that as well .
I am happy with the ones I have and see no reason at all ( Unless I get a HD6XXX card ) to even try them out again , Not to mention I just don't want to have the problems I did all over again . Have fun with them every one enjoy them ! I may not have , but hey I am that 1 in 1 million that did not get lucky .

Well so far ive only tested 11.1 on blackops been running great all night definate fps boost with max and min fps over the 10.10e i was using. And im running 5870's. The game still has issues with xfire though one card still seems to be better overall.
