It should be fine, prototype drivers worked:

As to why's frame pacing important with multi gpu, this picture sums it up:

and dave, about that maybe nvidia holds some frame pacing patent ... it might be so, because this seems too simple thing to miss while developing drivers

Somewhat off topic, but can you Crossfire a 7970 and a 7950 together? I have a 7970 and two 7950s, but I would love to keep the 7970 as the primary card and use one of the 7950s as a secondary, now that Crossfire is actually supposed to work now.

Yes you can and CrossFire does work contrary to what some overhyped forum posters say.

Sweet, I think I might bring my LEPA G900 and XFX 7950 home (has an Accelero Xtreme 7970 on it). I'm currently only running a 550w Rosewill Capstone (Gold) with my 4770K and HD 7970, so obviously I need to swap that first. :toast:

Yes it is. It is backed by number and several benchmarks as well. If you don't see it then you are blessed.

i was getting at the perception of them, i know microstutter is real. but i dont know why some see it (or get it) and some dont.

dave said its about the person being able to see and notice the stutter to do with perceptual ability (politely put)

and i questioned if that was fact or opinion (politely put)

Depends on the game, settings, system.. a bunch of factors can make "not noticeable" microstutter into "noticeable" microstutter. Even with a single card, I can get a stutter here and there when hooked up to my AMD rig... But that's most likely just normal stutter. Stutter, stutter, stutter.

Some people can wear 3D glasses, others cannot. Same sort of thing(literally). Either way, I wanna see some benchmarks.

ill also chime in with some frametime sequences, when they arrive.

AMD are starting to make me question them tho.

AMD was suppose to release a memory management improving driver earlier this year that never came. I would be a bit weary to expect anything today at this point.

wonder if my 6870's will work in CF with this one tho that's doubtful since its been almost a year since they have released a driver that works.

It becomes the most noticeable when you actually need the framerate provided from the second card...

Most of the times where "there is no issue" with CFX is when a single card would run just fine what many people run on two card.

That is what inflates the number of people not having issues. But sadly it's there.

    d1nky says thanks.

I had awful frame latency/stuttering issues with my crossfired 7770s. I get it as well with my single 7950 now in some games with vsync on. Most note worthy is bioshock infinite. With vsync off it doesnt seem to stutter as bad, but I can't handle the screen tear in that game. The frame rate is all over the place so it just looks terrible without vsync.

Brought my 7950 home to pair with the 7970, but like a total n00b I completely forgot to scavenge for some CFX bridges. I really hope I have a pair of them because CCC is demanding a pair. Also, my MSI 7970 "Windforce" is running 12-15c hotter and the whole PC is much louder, which sucks. Tomorrow I will install a more powerful side panel fan and hope it brings down temperatures to bearable levels. My XFX 7950 w/ Accelero Xtreme 7970 is way better off at 60c, but all the heatsinks are glued onto that card so I can't do a cooler swap, let alone use the AX7970 up top due to the slot spacing. :(

Will give a try tonight. Just paired up my 7970 and a 7950 last night, but forgot the Crossfire bridges.
