Does anyone here have a monitor that is supposed to support FreeSync and it doesn't work?
I just got a new AOC monitor that is supposed to support FreeSync, but in AMD drivers it is shown as "Not Compatible". I have an RX580, Windows 10 and 18.11.2 AMD drivers.

Is the freesync option turned on the monitor settings itself?
My previous Samsung monitor required me to enable Freesync in the settings and so does my MSI Monitor.

Yup, try to turn it on from the monitor. My MG279Q has an option to turn it on/off, since the range is limited to 35-90Hz. My other Freesync monitor, an AOC dose not have an option to toggle it on/off, it is always on.

I also have an Asus Freesync monitor and it didn't come enabled by default. So like the others said, make sure it's turned on in the monitor.

He didn't say what he tried, so starting with the basics is the sensible thing to do.
He also didn't give us the monitor model so we could check whether FreeSync can actually be turned off ;)

A lot of people don't. I sometimes don't, I like to tinker with things. And often times manuals just aren't that good or helpful in certain situations.

An important little detail! Free sync is ONLY supported over DP IIRC. My setup did take some fishing around to find the monitor setting. But oh what beauty in motion when it's on.

How would you rate, Freesync on and in range vs Enhanced Sync ?

Actually not totally true mine can do it over HDMI but HDMI can only do 100hz vs the 144 my panel supports which needs DP. Freesync 2 can be done via HDMI but with the limitations I mentioned

You can use both together they compliment each other in high FPS situations

I know the theory :) But i only have an RX570 that can not drive AAA games at 1440p with high settings >48Hz. That is the lower range of my current monitor.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that. My monitor will only do 75hz with DP (tops out at 60 Hz via HDMI), so I was confused... as usual. :p

According to the OPs screenshots, it's an AOC U2879G6 connected by DisplayPort.

I googled AOC U2879G6 to see if the damn thing even has FreeSync. And apparently it doesn't exist. There's only an AOC U2879VF. Which is probably what it actually is, and it does have FreeSync.

Anyway, yeah. Turn it on in the monitor's settings. The driver won't recognize it as a FreeSync monitor until you do.

Good catch, yes it is the AOC U2879VF model. And no, it doesn't have any option to turn "on" or "off" FreeSync.

I didn't think to look/read under OSD settings... That's just On Screen Display to me.
Oh, well, thanks!
Reported rate 40-60Hz.
