AMD is bundling "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora," the hotly anticipated RPG based on the popular movie franchise, with its processors, graphics cards, and pre-builts that combine the two. The list of eligible product spans the higher end of the Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors, the entire Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards (in the retail channel); and notebooks that combine select Ryzen 7000 series mobile processors and Radeon RX 6000M or 7000M series discrete graphics solutions.

The list of eligible desktop processors include Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 7950X, 7900X3D, 7900X, and 7900, and Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Eligible desktop graphics cards include Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900 XT, RX 7900 GRE, RX 7800 XT, RX 7700 XT, and RX 7600. For gaming notebooks, there must be a combination of the following processors and discrete graphics solutions: Ryzen 9 7945HX, 7845HX, 7940HS, Ryzen 7 7840HS, and 7735HS; and Radeon RX 7900M, RX 7700S, RX 7600S, RX 7600M XT, and RX 6550M. The promotion is open now, and runs until December 30, 2023; while the code redemption period closes January 27, 2024. The game itself releases on December 7.

What the heck i should do with that game if i buy a processor and dont play at all? AMD should use a cashback or a reduced Price instead.

That's how all game bundles work.

The game technically costs "nothing", it's a digital copy, the cost is whatever the companies agreed for the promotion, I doubt it's a 1 to 1 cost per game, if AMD were to use a cashback they actually lose quite a lot of money.

i would actively look for a shop that does not include this game when purchasing an AMD CPU/GPU.

Also not all regions participate and not all customers redeem their coupons, furthur reducing the cost for AMD and studio involved in promotion.

The last offer without a game was 499€ for the 7950x. Now with that (for me) useless game i should pay 100€ additionally. Great. Even if I sell that game I have additional work and also i don't get the difference of 100€. If i'm lucky i will get the half. So I have more work, I have to pay more and get less.

And pay the same? Just take a look at Geizhals. ;) I will have to wait till this marketing sh*t will end up and the prices drop again for a short timeframe.

I'm not looking for those bundles. It would be much better to let the customer decide. Either game or cashback. ;) This marketing sh*t is a good reason to buy a 6950x instead of a 7900XT GPU.

I just checked Geihalz and realized you're making things up. There's no increase in price for 7950X. 499€ was just a 10 day discounted price in September.

I also checked the prices of other Ryzen CPUs before the promotion started and I don't see anything close to suggest your theory of €100 additional pay for the game.

It could have been in Sept. I track the prices a bit longer. On Geizhals you see a rebate also in October: I don't care how other CPU's behave at the price. I need exactly that CPU and not any other.

The price was rising up for over 50€ since then. Nevertheless AMD charges me to buy that game. If i redeem a coupon to get the game or not, I have to pay for it.

I JUST Bought a 7900XTX and I’m not crying over the price or the fact I missed this bundle by a week or so…

Millennials whining in the comment section because they are being charged for something they don't want. How ironic.

The screenshot you posted yourself proves that's not the case.
As far as i remember at the last price raise at my appended statistics there was the last Game bundle starting. It was Starfield or so. ;) Straight before that bundle the price dropped and raised when the marketing started.

You can do whatever you do. If you want to throw your money away just do so. I don't see any reason why i should sponsor the gaming branch with my boughts.

Really?
1. I'm not a millenium. In 2000 i had been a freelancer project in the US at a firm about the transition and rules for the millenium change. I remember that quite well. The trade office charged every company to certify their fitness for 2000. They even asked for the toilet paper to be ready for the year 2000.
2. Is it ironic that i don't want to pay for things i don't want to have instead of keeping my money in my wallet? I don't see any ironic aspect.

Um I bought the card at regular retail price? WUHRS MUH GAMEZ.....
you are ridiculous sorry...

Strange that there is a 250€ GPU included but not the low tier Ryzen 7700X and below.

Looks like I will be getting a 7600 for someone for Xmas hehe. I can't wait to play this Game.

I didn't even quote you, but since you took offense so quickly, lemme tell you: I can care less about your background or whatever your did in the 2000's. My point is: you talk and behave like a millennial.

You're arguing with yourself here. Take a break.

Thanks for the compliment to think i'm that young. I learned a long time ago that the pidgeons don't fall baken from the sky (Wilhelm Busch, Max & Moritz). If you believe that i would go to a therapist.

So it looks like some people don’t want the game bundle (coupon code), some do want it and some would rather have a discount. Some might lament on missing out on the specific deal.

The discount angle seems a little like wishful thinking IMO. It’s a little like a promotional deal of an OLED TV with the manufacturer bundling a free rollable TV mount,……while supplies last. Don’t want the rollable TV mount? Fine but that doesn’t effect the price of the TV.

While I’m not sure about the viability of this game, I‘d be nice if AMD made the offer open to all purchases of listed processors and GPUs for a year or so. That way if the bundle is changed you still get game.

I forget what My RyZen 7950X came with. Same with my Radeon 7800XT but a free game is often nice to have,…

Free games don't effect the price of the hardware despite what some here seem to have convinced themselves of. Free actually does mean Free.

There is nothing new here. When they do them you take the cost of the Game into account. As much as it seems to be a good idea for a Cashback, once you receive the Key for the Game it is yours to do with as you please. They do not increase the price to account for the Game as the RX 7600 is still the exact same price as it was before this was announced and is available right now on Newegg.

another horizon zero dawn/ forbidden west knock off…

will it be a good artist, or great artist… as in “good artist copy, great artist steals”

did Avatar hit theatres before HZD was a game? ok 2009 (avatar movie) 2017 (HZD game)…

but is it still a copy if you make the people blue?… avatar game…

Forbidden West has not even been released on PC. There is no flying in HZD so how can you claim this is a clone of that?

And you dream that the game is for free? If they didn't raise the price they charged all the tiime for a game without delivering it. The marketing pot they have to pay for also needs to be filled by anybodys money. I remember pretty well how it was at my last girlfriends job in the pharmaceutical branch. She was the marketing manager. And she was quite successful in her job. She played with the big names in the braanch and she teached me a lot.

That's obviously not how the marketing works in this case. AMD isn't paying for marketing the game. They are allowing the games owner to use their products (AMD) as a gateway to increase the games exposure. In other words, they are getting paid to piggyback this game with their CPUs and GPUs. There are infinite ways to market a product, this is but one. So yes, free is free.
