AMD rolled out its second Catalyst performance driver update in a week, with the Catalyst 11.11b. It follows Catalyst 11.11a, which was released earlier this week. A performance driver update is what AMD used to call "Hotfixes", they are updates for recently-released WHQL-signed drivers, featuring some performance improvements fresh from the Catalyst developer team. In includes all the changes 11.11a brings to the table, plus the ones listed below:
Elder Scrolls Skyrim
  • New in Catalyst 11.11b: Delivers AMD CrossFire performance scaling for AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series
o AMD Radeon HD 5000 CrossFire support will be supported soon in an updated driver
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
  • New in Catalyst 11.11b: Delivers AMD CrossFire performance scaling

Now this is good news!

Wait till you try it LOL Image corruption in Skyrim is widespread.

The drivers seem to be crap from what I have seen on the TESV thread as well as other forums.

There's actually less of the transparent textures i kept seeing before. I dont run dual cards. Performance is about the same, i dont get a lot of slow down maybe for a few seconds here and there.

Where's the HD 4000 series love? Oh well, I'll wait for a more mature driver since people with the 6000 series are still saying they're getting negative scaling.

I'll stick to the 11.11a + .dll fix. I only get up to about 50%-%70 utilization on the second card, but it's much better than playing on a single card in the time being. (And no noticeable corruption.)

Which makes me wonder, why hasn't ATI just released a generic AFR profile in the meantime like .dll fix uses?

is it me or has AMD really let go in terms of quality?

I have never owned a NVIDA card, been with ATI since 9250. Now I'm thinking I'll try a geforce next time because AMD does not have their act together.

I think the opposite, i think they have started to show they care about tiny things and release drivers almost weekly. I remember times that when you had a problem and a driver just came out, you would have to wait a whole month to see the update for that.

Things arent so great on the nvidia side either to be honest. New driver for skyrim right when it launched is nice, but having to go back to an older driver when I want to play BF3 without flashing shadows = not so great.

I got a bad feeling that if AMD doesn't fix this apparent fiasco, their HQ is gonna find a bunch of pitchfork wielding angry people surrounding it.

I usually go for whatever is the best bang for buck mid to high range card. So ive been swapping between Nvidia and ATi (AMD) for a long time and i can tell you that Nvidia like to release random beta drivers between WHQL (which are very erratic some work for certain systems some dont) where as AMD like to release a ready (complete) driver and even have lately stepped up in terms of length between driver releases.

I cant say im NOT a fanboy of either brand but i disagree because my experience is that all the AMD drivers work as advertised, bear in mind that i run a single card set up.

it scales now. getting 40-80 fps outside, 100-200 inside. with dual 6950 1GBs @900/1375

but 40fps for a DX9 title....that sucks, doesn't it?

is it the same file for 32bit and 64bit ?
yep. the "package" has both drivers and will automatically install the correct one. you don't have to worry about installing the wrong version.

Quad Cfx is scaling pretty good (60-70%), altough I get 80-100 fps there are random drops to 25-30... Still playable but in my opinion going with one 6990 core at 1000/1450 I get a good experience with all maxed (2560x1600) steady 50-60 fps so who cares if cfx is not working! The game doesn't need it for now without mods
I'm not an ATI fanboy but Nvidia has it's good shares of problems, I've been on their side too recently (gtx 480s) and the only thing that is greener is their logo, not the grass :)

Yeah these drivers working fine here too. Not using forced Oblivion profile in Skyrim anymore.

So well put.

Scaling in now "ok" i would say but there can be still done more

true. the FPS fluctuations are wicked. at least, it is giving more performance than a single card. NOT 90% or so scaling i believe. let's just hope they give that in 11.12.

I've had two GTX 480's since February and only had problems with GTA IV, rest of games run great; every system/rig is different even if you have the same card configuration.

Why is the 11.11 CCC download 59 MB, and the 11.11b download 192 MB?

using 2x 6970s in CrossFireX w/ 11.11b + 11.11 CAP2 the descaling seems to have stopped just going on the feel of it...

i express uninstalled all via Calalyst Install Manager ala Control Panel, i then went into Device Manager and uninstalled and selected delete the files for the Radeon HD 6970 devices, rebooted, ran (phyxion.net) Driver Sweeper 3.2.0, rebooted, then installed the 11.11b performance drivers, uninstalled the cap2 but running the 11.11 CAP2 installer and selecting remove... rebooted, and then installed the 11.11 CAP2 again

seems to work fine for me... in CrossFireX
