I'm looking for a new processor and it has come down to these 2 processors. Which one is better out of the AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8 GHz Or AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6 GHz? I dont really aim to overclock at all for the processors because I am not an extreme PC entheuast.

Better?
Better for what?
Obvious difference between the mentioned chips is the amount of cores and a 200MHz clock advantage for the 720BE. Frankly, if you have to ask buy the cheaper - and as such there's no reason to exclude X3 710 from consideration.

get the X3 as it has an unlocked multi and 3 cores possible 4th core unlock

the x4 is slower and might not clock as much, 4th core is an advantage tho

The X4 810 only has 4MB of cache, the X3 720 has 6MB of cache.

Simple choice IMO.

Depends on board.

On 720 possible to unlock core, 810 possible to unlock cache. If you get unlucky with mobo though, nothing is nicer to save your OC than an unlocked multi. I say 720BE

Go for the 720, it saves a bit of cash and if your a gamer most games only use 2 cores, so the faster 720 will perform better.

Another plus for the 720, I have it OC'ed to 3.6Ghz running fully passive on my Scythe Mugen no problem. It is a VERY cool running chip. My 940BE was a better clocker but also required active cooling at that speed.

as all say, the 720 will have more performance by its higher clock and its higher cache

720... faster, more cache, cheaper. Sure the 810 has 4 cores, but nothing really uses all 4 cores these days.
