yeah, I feel like VRAM oc has to be kept off, otherwise core won't max itself. VRAM oc doesn't really gain anything anyway in my testing. the gains come from the core undervolt and boost.
That seems to be my experience, yup. Pushing the VRAM to 2600Mhz got me the odd screen disconnect. Anything beyond that and I would get a hard crash. But it also made very little difference to benchmarks and fps.

I mean, the undervolt isn't even needed for this card. I have yet to find a way to actually stress it. But "numbers go up" is always fun to try to achieve :)

I took the oc off the vram and it is way more stable... I was able to get the undervolt down to 1050, 2900 mhz, 5% pl, and it clocks up to 3k.. dont see much improvement on benchmarks after that.

I don’t know if msi afterburner is telling me the correct voltage it never goes above .999 mv on my xtx hell hound and just as stable as it can be.
I’ll put some pictures later.

Install AMD software and compare the numbers. It even has an Overlay that has more information than Afterburner.

Speaking of undervolting:
View attachment 339461

This got me 146fps average in CP2077 maxed out! And it hit 3.25Ghz effective clocks sustained in GravityMark. It seems the only part of the card that's touchy is the VRAM so I've kept it at stock with fast timings. Boy this card is great.

Also, the paste job must be phenomenal. My room was 35C ambient temp yesterday and the junction temp still only hit 88C at the max under heavy load. Average at the moment outside of the extreme ambient is 80-82C. I'm actually curious if PowerColor used PTM7950 on this card but I'm too scared to open it up and confirm!
Don't breathe on it. Keep it the way it is.

Can you loop 3DMark 06 (yup, that old one) with that undervolt? Change the settings in 3DM to max and disable CPU tests and let it loop for a few hours.

I cannot because unfortunately it turned out to be unstable :( Stable Diffusion would cause outright driver crashes or even corrupt images on the way out. Oh well! Back to the drawing board.

My results with PTM7950 are interesting, GPU hotspot went down significantly in extreme cases like the AIDA64 GPGPU benchmark from 91C down to 77C, GPU temp however is the same or slightly worse, >1-2C possibly because my fan speed is now lower since the control is based on the hotspot temp which is now also lower. Memory temps are also a little bit worse, I used new thermal pads but they were quite stretchy but again it's possible this is also because of the lower fan speed.

It's kind of the same thing as the IF on CPUs that eats power whether it needs to or not. Speaking of which, I installed the new 24.2.1 driver over the weekend, and now my idle power is back in the 30 W range (it was 10 W before). I rolled back to 24.1.1 which was fine before, but now it isn't. :(

I hope the rumours are true and RDNA 4 will be monolithic. Then, it'll be my first thing to swap, even if it doesn't give me more performance, just a little better efficiency and idle power consumption.
Looks like 24.3.1 has brought power down again...

Hey y'all. If I wanted to run my liquid devil with an air cooler what would I get? I do know a reference cooler wouldn't work ....

Probably the air cooler for the Red Devil. You'd probably need to contact Powercolor to see if it'll fit.

Thinking only the included stock cooler? No 3rd party? it's just in case the pump dies. I do have a 3070 Ti I could put in my rig if necessary and of course the CPU does have an iGPU but who wants to game on that lol....

Rajintek doesn't have a 7000 series cooler and only really AIO/custom water exists. That's just part of having performance.

Undervolting gets you more performance, there is no reason to not do it.

Just a day ago I applied PTM7950 on my watercooled 7900XT and temperatures are markedly better, it definitely does work.

I dont trust AMD drivers that is why i do not do it, i may do it for benchmarking tho i got legendary on speedway that way, as for PTM7950 there lot of positive feedback from reddit, i would defiantly give this a try before even considering liquid metal.

Saw @mama post about he's liquid devil 7900 XTX getting abselutely insane hotspot temps but also very hot vram temps etc, i have no idea if he fixed it.
But on my liquid devil 7900 XTX i was 70c hotspot day one then slowly went to 80c hotspot eventually 92c hotspot repaste 2 times with MX-4 went straight back up to 92c hotspot after 1-2 weeks

After this i repasted to PTM7950 and my hotspot went down to the 60-70c range at 22-23c idle watertemp which what i usually idle at for every 1c higher my hotspot range increases by 1c as well after that, since i have dual mo-ra3 setup with dual pump and 270+ litre per hour i usually only go up +2c above watertemp while watertemp is +1c above room temp, yes my room can be quite hot its frustating, im hoping to get split airconditioning this year, hopefully i can direct it towards my corner of the room that is always like 3c hotter then its usually is near my window during the winter.

Here are my today's temps been testing world of warcraft for more then an hour today.
idling at 22,7c currently.

World of warcraft runs hotter then some games at full load despite being really old game.

I like when my edge temp is below 45c cos PTM7950 is solid below 45c meaning it forms an solid barrier around my hotspot probably protecting even more against pumpout, i can hit above 45c edge temp tho if i record thru av1 via relive but that is mostly pointless due lack of HDR support as AMD is like a century behind NVIDIA in feature support parity

Also speaking of which AMD fixed the RGB laser show in dying light 2, just waiting for AMD to fix it the next driver again, altho hopefully they wont.

My Vram temps are fine. In fact, all my observations are fine. It's just the hotspot for me. You obviously had a good experience with PTM7950. On your advice I tried it but my result, while somewhat improved, is still not where I want it to be and regularly above 100C. Certainly, I would prefer your hotspot temperature. Given that you have had similar issues however, my hypothesis about the card being made this way (ie with high hotspot temps) is reasonable.

I have been thinking about a different approach. I will try adding washers to the mix and attempt a tighter connection. Also, I notice from EK's instruction video on the Red Devil water block that they use thermal pads on the backplate which is lacking on the Liquid Devil. I think I will try it when I'm out of Dragon Dogma mode.

Defiantly mounting issue did you take pictures when you took off the block ? my pads where very thick as well but very squished highest i get on vram usually is 58c when i idle at 22-23c watertemp my loop is quite overkill, whats your loop like ?

Hey y'all. If I wanted to run my liquid devil with an air cooler what would I get? I do know a reference cooler wouldn't work ....

Edit: Quick disclaimer I know this looks like a troll but I'm being serious
Technically any gpu cooler the red devil block fits from ekwb the stock cooler from those cards may fit on the liquid devil as well so maybe ask powercolor if they can sell you just cooler from those cards, or find a user with similar card to trade.
edit: actually if you gonna go this route be careful and compare cooling surface of both waterblock and the cooler first in picture comparisons cos if it does not match there it most defiantly wont fit, probably best to ask user that wants to trade.

Running stock no undervolt
default clocks
unleashed bios
View attachment 340177

World of warcraft runs hotter then some games at full load despite being really old game.

What setup do you have for your watercooling? Those water temps are impressive. I have 3x360mm (60mm) radiators and a dual EK pump and I can hit 40C if I game for 3 hours.

My watertemps never exceeded 34c when i was on my triple 360 rad setup with my single D5 + cpu

Im on a external watercooling setup currently only GPU is cooled by it dual Mo-ra3 with NF-A20 and dual D5 4 quick disconnects QD4 highflow next flow meter getting 270+ L/h

Maybe need to ramp up those fans and increase waterflow nothing to crazy but high power cards love faster waterflow which helps me shave of a few more degrees of my hotspot.

Good day to you guys I'm finally 17 today. Does anybody know any water blocks that will fit the ASUS TUF OC RX 7900 XTX besides the EKWB one?

Look up Alphacool and Byiski. I do believe you can buy them from both of their websites.

Alphacool didn't have the Asus TUF water block they only had the AMD reference PCB water block. I'll take a look at Bykski.

(Edit): Bykski has a water block $100 dollars cheaper than EKWB. I will definitely be choosing Bykski's product.

I am very curious honestly how often users with rx7000 series gpu use the AMD Bug Report Tool to send a bug report ?

AMD market share is pretty small roughly 15-17% acording to steam usually then you have maybe small percentage playing a game lets say 1% in worse case scenario for dying light 2 which had the RGB laser show bug now silently fixed in 24.3.1 now lets say of that 1% only 1% sends a bug report about this bug, i am sure by now you get where i am going with this, since it always feels like my bug reports often get ignored, and only 1 bug report managed to get copy pasted as known issue in known issues list once.
and 1 issue got totally confused for something else.

World of warcraft these days have a lot of driver timeouts and crashes, but it has been having this for me for over a year now with many hardware swaps in between, and non of my bug reports been read so far regarding world of warcraft except one which you can guess is probably the easiest to reproduce for AMD so cant possibly me ignored.

But world of warcraft is a pain because the crashing usually starts to get more frequent after a couple of days depending on how much i play, then i start crashing more frequently, almost as if the shader cache for that game corrupts it self then causes problems for the Radeon drivers.

The problem with stats is that they have many vectors. We could use Steam but also use HiveOS. How many Nvidia cards vs AMD cards are used for mining when Nvidia cards were better at it? There is also the fact that AMD drivers are universal. When you have 2 different AMD cards in your system the software will recognize them both. Even something as crazy as a 7600 and Vega 64. Those are

World of Warcraft may be a Game that takes time to update when a new Campaign come out. I know that when Helldivers2 launched it had issues and it got patched from the developer released a patch that fixed most issues.
