AMD to release Black Edition X2...

Yeah, but Intel and nVIDIA wouldn't go out without a fight first. nVIDIA would have huge trouble Samsung bought DAMMIT but Intel would stand it's ground a throw some hefty punches back for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it got to it, they'd buy nVIDIA (not that nVIDIA would allow it, but if had too.) and make the IT a completely different place. That's spice things up for sure!

:D

We can only hope!

lol, if Intel bought nidia.....you'd be seeing core 2 based gfx cards. Also, you'd probably see them trying to get nvidia to take power consumption down (it needs to be done eventually). Also, you'd get nice fab sizes on gfx cards. But yeah, we can only hope.

DAMMIT are already doing this with their new project; Codename Fusion. Where the CPU & GPU are on the same silicon. They'll be dubbing them APUs ~ Accelerated Processing Units or something.

Mehh not that, like a dedicated gfx card, with core 2-the cache-alot of branch prediction+re-done to accept gfx commands. Oh with like......20 cores if they could fit that many by taking out those things.

 I get you now.

Yup :D. But just imagine, overclocking your gfx card to 4 ghz . Although someone's going to come in here and say that core 2 isn't compatible with the gfx commands and instructions.

To be honest, I really wouldn't be suprised if the GPU became the CPU. :p

Just make the GPU the whole computer. But then we can't build our own comps . Actually that'll never happen with current architecture because Cpu's have so many things that Gpu's don't and vice versa.

looks like some promising tech too, but im of the opinion its place is not in the pc (or at least not in a gamers pc anyway) could prove good for integrated devices, laptops, and possibly the next generation of game consoles

Don't say that! That'd suck big time dick!

Get a REAL use for quad-core. 2 cores for processing and 2 for graphics.

Psht good luck running something easy.....like CS:S

Average gpu clock today is 500MHz. How about 2 at 2400MHz :/

Meh.....they have lots and lots more cores though. Although 2 cores may beat a low end integrated solution...but idk.

Just think, they may have one core to do graphics, another for physics and the other 2 to dance all night long. :)

lol, but once again, a quad core isn't going to preform better than a 8800.

I was talking theoretically, just as we have been doing, or so I thought. They wouldn't just chuck a CPU onto a GFX PCB they'd have to re-design and engineer the chip.

ohhh I thought you were talking like take the Cpu as a cpu and gpu all in one package and have it more powerful than a dedicated chip.

Oh know! That will actually be a reality if DAMMIT don't go down hill. It's a long, long way off being a desktop replacement, but it'll eventually get there.

mmmm one day, lol.

One isn't impossible. I've be reading about the Fusion and it sounds like a freaking great idea. I'll find some pictures if I can, (screw making them if I can't, I suck in Photochop) and I'll try give a jist as to how it'll work. I'm too tired to attempt a slightly more detailed rendition than, CPU + GPU = APU. ;)

I know what you mean, I've seen pics and heard about it. Thing is about it, it's no better than integrated graphics, just a different way of doing integrated graphics.

Don't you just love cryptic people? Especially when they talk of something completely unrelated to the topic on hand.

Well done dude, still reading the conspiracy stories I take it?
