AMD Will Fix Adrenalin Driver Game Incompatibility Issues After All

And yet it took AMD over a year to fix the Overwatch crash bug. lol

Overwatch players complain and are forced to sit on old drivers for a year. Waiting with each release...AMD sits on it.
DX9 players bitch for a day and AMD engineers make a stupid comment...AMD suddenly goes to work.

Yeah this really may be the last time I use AMD GPUs. nVidia does stupid stuff on hardware and drivers too but AMD's support of their Radeon line has been worse than I've ever seen it lately.

Weird. I been playing Overwatch since its release on 3 different series of cards and never experienced that bug nor had to stick with a old driver. Nor has the system i've put the old cards in experience any issues running Overwatch.

About the only issue I've ever ran into with Overwatch since release was when they introduced Doomfist but blizzard put out several patches after that and by the 3rd one everything was back to norm and still is.

Must of been a windows 10 update causing it

Have you even tried reporting it via bug report?. I had an issue and used bug reporter, they fixed it. Posting a gripe without bug reporting it gets you no where and makes you out to be a whiner.

It is a known issue that is very commonly brought up in vanguard. AMD knows.

Or maybe that was the company line until the outcry....

I will tell you this much, there are parts of AMD legitimately trying to fix it. Unfortunately one dbag messes all of that up.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
The same mice will scurry regardless how the noise was made that scared them. The more mice they throw at it, the more surprised they were to hear it. ;)

Edit: or, they just want to get is resolved as quick as possible, lol!

That said, cant say i believe it much either. Not because i dont think its possible, for [any company] to make this choice, but because it appears this is engine specific and a snafu as well as just being blurted out on the web. :)

They should look at Bayonetta too because before the last 3 or 4 driver updates the game was running fine than now does stutter a lot and is not an heavy game at all.

C'mon people were acting like they had completely abandoned DX9 entirely, when it was a handful of old games...It was absolutely an overreaction...

It wasn't just old games though, as I pointed out, there were newer games that don't work either. Tales of Berseria is less than a year old and it's fucked on the latest drivers. It affected many DX9 games, regardless of age.

Playing old games is one of the damn tenents of PC gaming. If I found out one day I couldn't play some of my favorite games, that would be the worst.

Regardless you could count the list of games on 2 hands and like nobody has ever released a buggy driver before? I mean we live on Hot Fixes these days and this was obviously going to be hot fixed regardless of what one obviously clueless rep said.

One would hope not. It's not a successful attitude for a company. I bet this guy made an assumption, and answered on his own without thinking of checking with the big kids who were on holiday break.

So this is not an incompatibility with DX9 but an incompatibility with specific game engine? I'd guess SAGE engine may have used some undefined behavior which changed after driver update. DX9 is still far from death and AMD shouldn't be that stupid to abandon DX9 as a whole.

Even it's not limited to SAGE, I'd still hold that same argument. If AMD is dropping support of DX9 (even a tiny subset of it), considering there're still hundreds of DX9 games being made and released every year, it should be an official statement to developers and general public other than a random support guy revealed in support forum.
BTW, your twitter link doesn't work, at least for me. Works in forum but broken in news comments.

Meh, it would be better to focus on upcoming AAA driver, especially on the TWIMTBP titles.

mind you consider reading the whole article?
with some older game titles under DX9 ("C&C3 Tiberium Wars," "C&C3 Kane's Wrath," "C&C Red Alert 3," "C&C Red Alert 3 Uprising," "C&C4 Tiberian Twilight," "Battle for Middle Earth 1-2," and "The Witcher Enhanced Edition.")

damn, this news makes me laugh harder than before.:laugh:

Of course they will, total overreaction...
They're fixing it BECAUSE of the huge reaction, if people had just laid back and accepted it when they initially said they wouldn't then they wouldn't have changed their tune.

You could fix it by installing the DX SDK which means these games had some shoddy code that relied on old legacy crap that AMD threw out with Adrenalin.

So actually Microsofts fault as they havent included the whole DX code since Win7.

Yup or fused the DX version with OS Version since Vista... 95C-XP you could upgrade DX

Guys I don't think this has anything to do with AMD being bad or not wanna fix it. It is that technical support bad mouth and going with his own assumptions. I think he got scolded behind the scene. They need to hire better one really.

honestly i don't think it was his own assumption but more like where AMD generally headed. for example AMD themselves said they will focus less on OpenGL and instead will work more on Vulkan instead. and i still remember the issue during the early days of 7K series where the card will flicker in many DX9 based games.

Get this also, a lot of DX9 games have reduced performance on new AMD hardware, people on Reddit talked about Borderlands games suffering large fps drops outdoors. OpenGL games run horribly on AMD GPUs to this day. This latest issue is just the tip of the iceberg for the company.

damn, this news makes me laugh harder than before.:laugh:

the issue is much bigger than that. sure right now those five games are not working properly. but what about future driver release? if AMD break more DX9 based games and decided not to care about it then it could become a big deal.

better focusing on upcoming AAA driver? that's one of the major problem with AMD. that's why AMD having trouble gaining market share because majority of people did not only play triple A games.

I read both articles and comment sections. Comments of previous article are debates as if AMD abandoned DX9 so I believe it's necessary to clarify.
