Any good wifi extenders / repeaters for my router?

See, that is what is confusing me a lil bit.. a wireless receiver is not the Unifi AP but something else?

My neighbors request is simply that he gets better wifi signal at his place than what he does right now. He wants to strengthen the signal quality. HOW can we do that? What device does he need to get better wifi signal? I have the router at my place. And yes, my neighbor WOULD mount any device that strengthens the signal, so he would definitely mount that RE6500, IF that is what it takes to improve the signal quality. But, wouldnt he then need to stretch a cable from that router to my router, or?

I forgot to mention that i have also a spare Linksys wrt54gl that im not using.. would that be of any help, or? If so, how can we setup that router to connect with the one i have..?

The RE6500 intercepts the wireless signal from your router and creates its connection to your network, then it rebroadcasts the signal. You can also get high-gain antennas for it if you need, though I haven't needed to yet...and I full well expected to need it with the retirement village due to location and being on the third floor. Totally didn't and the wireless network expansion worked flawlessly. So did the built-in network switch as they had their "IT Office" up there but no network runs to it... was a shame. The unit it replaced I believe was an old D-Link (overheating, rebooting, was really old...)...but I'd have to look at documentation to confirm. That being said, the newer ones SnakeDoctor recommends should do the job as well. I stick with the RE6500's because I've deployed enough and they all are still working well, and were surprisingly easy to setup and very reliable for a sub-$100 price, tough to beat. D-Link would be my next budget-minded choice. Then I'd go physical run + wireless access point or wireless bridge after that.

You can setup the WRT54G as an AP or wireless bridge, but again, you'll either need a physical run or you'll lose some wireless bandwidth...and with an old wireless router like that, I don't see the point of using it as anything but an AP or lab router honestly.

You need to read up on what these devices do and how they do it, I think that will help you here. We can all give suggestions, tips, our experience, but you should be doing your homework as well.

Ok. We want to keep it simple, if possible. My neighbor does not have any internet provider to begin with. So, whenever they are here, they borrow my connection, but they are getting very bad reception, and that is basically what we wanna improve!

Now, getting the Ubiquiti LBE-5AC-23 LiteBeam™ ac Outdoor Directional Antenna seems to be an option that will suit my neighbor nicely. HOW would that work compared to the other things mentioned? From my understanding, thid device is mounted to my or so, which will strengthen the signal even more, correct? edit: the distance from my house to my neighbors house is somewhat like 15-30 meters, so that should be more than enough for him to get almost full signal with the LBE-5ac-23, yes? also, i must mount the lbe-5ac-23 outside, or?
