Any way to see who's ignoring you?

As per title..

Elementary dear W, but i can't find it; XenForo has the /ignoring function, have seen it elsewhere, so maybe i'm just missing something here?

This is for purely practical purposes. Helps knowing if you're talking to yourself or if the person you're addressing actually reads your stuff.

(in the off chance the answer is 'yes you *%*# of course there's a way', well.. i haven't asked a single dumb question today, so this is just me filling my quota. One must above all be scientific, can't leave routine to chance)

Easy way is to log out ,then view a thread which you feel may contain a post from a member you suspect has you set to ignore . If you can see a post while you're logged out that you can't while you're logged in, they likely have you set to ignore.

I know when you have someone set to ignore on your end, most of the time it entirely omits the content , other times it allows you the option of viewing their content but it sets to autohide by default. I've used this feature more than one time personally

It can cause problems and misunderstandings when you have someone on ignore. For one, you may be throwing out post after post in a thread that the person you ignore has already done. It kinda makes you THAT guy that everyone else is rolling their eyes at.

Two, you will come upon a thread that has a page or two, and some of the posts you can't make heads or tails of because you don't see who some of the people are responding to.

Finally, third, I have also seen where someone saw a response that really angered them, and they launched an attack on the person they thought attacked them. Turns out, that person was responding to the person the angry one had on ignore.

So, you may very well need it for a short while someday, but I don't recommend it. Nothing we say in here is worth getting mad over....it matters naught in life.

And of course, someone else may put you on ignore. I've found most, but not all the people who use ignore tell you and everyone else, as if it's supposed to be some kind of big announcement any of us care about.

I've only used an ignore function once in my entire life, and it was on a largely unmoderated forum that had what I believe was a legitimately mentally ill man attacking people at every corner for crimes I can only imagine were quite creative. Ignore was really the only moderation I could get.

But yeah, overall I avoid it's use if I can, it just makes things confusing. No one on ignore here. Someone ignored me once I know, but that was because he ignored like everyone...

I ignore no one, even those I don't agree with, the chances are I may still learn something as I don't consider anyone that contributes here to be stupid and worth ignoring.
