this will be my next media player.

currently i have a creative zen vision w with a 60gig hard drive. i like the creative, but i hate there customer service. last fall the charging cord stuck to my pants and i drug it off my nightstand, it fell 20 inches. and you guessed it, the screen cracked.

so i have been debating buying a new csreen for $75 or just buying something new. i think i have decided.

Ive ben thinking ordering one, ever since i saw this thread! But.. Every plugin to it, costs money, so its expensive on the long run.. And some reviews said that they break often and stuff :/

I really like archos, they make awesome media players. heck! it even has a 250gb HDD.

Archos players kick ass, they are relatively cheap for what they have to offer.
Except for the plugins, but if you just wanna listen to music and watch your videos, its more than okay.

Archos make great gadgets. They are not that well known but they make excellent products. As for the plugins, well let's just say there are ways around that...

$30 aint that expensive - its not cheap, but its not that expensive either. Could be alot worse. Im waiting for the next one from archos - something about it comming out in september or so. It sounds alot better!

Its actually pre-installed, but Archos deals with the licenses. And as far as I have gathered from uncountable forums, each Archos device has that license number programmed in its deepest innards, so no way to bypass that. You would need to solder off a chip, hook that chip to a chipwritert of some sort, there change some source code stuff, solder it on again and maybe it will work. Good luck with that. However, this policy makes the player itself relatively cheap compared to others (the Archos 605 wifi sells for 250 bucks here with an 80gb hard drive, an equivalent of another manufacturer would cost at least two times as much), so its actually a good thing as not everybody wants to surf the internet on a mp4 player.

I was going to get one, but you have Ads galore and you have to buy a shitload of plugins to make it useful for even being a media tablet.
