Are you good in front of a camera? YouTube Fame!

shoot some video introducing yourself, or presenting something (your crib, your car, your computer, etc), we do have to see you and hear you speak.
try to be natural but look in the camera from time to time :)

don't worry about recording quality. doesn't have to be long, just so we get an idea.

upload as unlisted video to youtube and pm me the link

I will be submitting a video, my buddy and I have been wanting to get involved in something like this for a while now. We ramble on and on about hardware/software/technology, so much to talk about.

@W1zzard why don't you do it, don't fit the age profile or....? :p

And that age thing, I call BS because when I watch the tube if the person is entertaining, bright and full of energy I'll watch without having a regard or their age.. Linus, look at how well he does his reviews. TOT is great also, and is older but with all his adds I get turned off by 80% of his reviews but has killer music... That blond bimbo from the EU... I've said to much ha..

Some of these other guys/ gals drag the shit out and I just refuse to watch.. If a review is much more then 6-7 min long they better grab my attention in the 1st 60 seconds or its bye bye.

And just for curiosity, what kind of compensation would one expect to do this?

Btw its about time, frankly I'd like to see video reviews especially your GPU reviews and other hardware done via a tpu channel.

One more thing I think it be cool once you narrow down the field to say 3 ppl we should be able to vote on who we think would be the best spokesman, really without us there wouldn't be a web site like this now would there.

Ok lets rock and roll here's my trial. Holding up that GPU in the way of the mic makes me a little quite at times and I didn't have a scipt or anything so sorry for all the errors.

I'm probably too young for this.
Best one I have seen, but also the only one I have seen..

In all seriousness, not bad at all. The poor video quality and lighting is all stuff that can be fixed. The important stuff (speaking clearly, knowledge base, etc) seems on point.

very good, especially for no script. you are born in .cz? fantastic english. a bit young though, how old are you ?

wait, what? no! all mineeee!!
I'm 18 this august and most likely moving to the UK to study.

no problems with being in the UK either??

If you can speak like John Oliver, maybe we could work something out.

FREE SITE MEMBERSHIP FOR NEXT YEAR + probably a custom avatar
that enough for you :)

@buildzoid did a fantastic job!! Give him a real item to review, and a practiced script, I know I would tune in every week, and I am 48!

Why starting at 21

Looks like taking 2 years of drama and a 1 year of speech and debate has paid of.

Why starting at 21

It could help with certain kinds of international travel, hotel-checkins, etc. 21 is kinda "good to go anywhere" age.

Guess I'm out of the equation than

I wish i fit the bill. I sound a lot better than John Oliver and i am funnier than him
( my wife doesnt think so)

If i did it you could call it " teck for wrecks"

Then again who wants to listen to a middle aged Welsh skinhead.

Don't believe I could talk well enough, sadly. I'm curious though, would it be a one-man-band sort of thing, or would roles be split up via different people? Seems like it could be split up in to someone to select which news makes it in to the report, someone who writes the script, someone to read it at the camera, and someone to edit it all and upload it.

I honestly do not like LinusTechTips, seems too much like an advertisement. Very much like TekSyndicate, seems rather laid back and really honest about their opinions.
Sounds like we'd want something similar to what XDA Developers does? I think how they do their show would be a good base for a TPU channel.

I do have budget available, but honestly no clue about actual numbers..

I think that's a few people too many, I guess picking and creating the script could be a group effort, probably with news/review people involved. film+edit+upload is probably most productive as single person. and everybody else on the internet gets to criticize

got a specific video you are thinking of?

@xvi- completely agree. I've voluntarily watched one video from Linus on YouTube and have not since gone back. His videos do not interest me whatsoever.

I would sign up for the blow and hookers, but only if I get free hardware too.
I believe you would be the hardware supplier in that scenario! lol :toast:

Good job man!

i cant get over how TINY that kid is... LOL , I saw him holding a random dual slot GPU, and it looks like he had a folding table :) not to mention he is intolerable.

This could've been @cadaveca until you got to the "look presentable" part

Threw my hat in the ring. This sounds pretty nifty.

I've learned how to use final cut X in school but I no longer have access to a mac so I will need to learn how to edit video on PC. I learn pretty fast so that shouldn't be much of a problem if I just switch over to some other software but I have no idea about what is a good video editor for windows.

I'd volunteer if cameras did not add 50 lbs to my already overweight self...

Seriously, I'm just not good with a camera and as such wouldn't be fair for me to volunteer myself. Good luck though TPU!

I don't watch it religiously, but mostly their news posts. I'll see if I can track down a good example. They've hopped around from person to person depending on who's available. I think Adam Outler does most guides since he's a bit of a coding/hacking ninja. They otherwise just have someone going over topics of news.

Yeah, that's probably split up a bit more than it needs to be. I think two people would be ideal, one for finding and feeding news to a reporter and a second to record and edit. I just figure sorting through news might be much for one person.

Don't let software stop you. A good number of top youtube peeps use google apps for video production.

w1z, can you share an example of exactly what you are looking for?
