Artifacting with ASUS STRIX RX 480 at times

Ever since I got a 144hz monitor, this problem of games having square artifacts and crashing (sometimes with no error to be seen). This happened with Overwatch and Quake Live already. Anyone know the problem with what's going on? I lowered down the hz from 144 to 120 to see if that'll fix things but I don't know myself.

try and use afterburner and lower the Hz on your vram, just 5-10.

Just did it, I'll give it a whirl with 144hz to see if it'll do it again.

Okay, I did that and it still occurs. I lowered down the GPU clock by a little bit this time to see if that'll fix things. I checked the event logs and it does say that the drivers were the one to crash. Does anyone have this issue?

Edit: This seems to happen on any game I start up. It happened when I tried to start up Guilty Gear XRD Revelator.

It seems like I've fixed it somehow. I stopped using MSI Afterburner and used Wattman to lower down the factory OC by about 5% and kept memory clock at 2000mhz. Is it possible that the factory OC was simply not good? I don't know too much about OCing.

The card is just binned for that clock speed they never actually test to see if it's ok. Sounds like a bum card to me I would request an exchange.

This problem is only getting worse the more I try to fix it. I just reinstalled windows on my computer and tried reinstalling the drivers but the screen just spazzes out for a couple seconds with flashing, artifacting lights on the screen then the computer just blue screens with a video tdr failure. You got any suggestions for an alternative card? This is going to be the 3rd time I'm returning a card to Frys and I don't want to have to go back again.

Can you post pictures of the issue using a camera?

You might want to ask Asus and AMD on this situation. By the way how old is the power supply and is there even a motherboard bios update in your signature rig?

I can do that in a sec. I tried calling ASUS but every time I try to call them, my connection gets dropped the minute I go into their queue. The power supply is a brand new Antec HCG-520W. I don't think I've had a bios update though. Sorry if I've been a bit of a bother to this forum, this has been extremely frustrating to me.

No worries, i just noticed your sig rig specs said a corsair psu is why I asked.

From sounds of it since the card is so New I'd get an RMA on it. By the way reach Asus via email or live support chat through a pc, not on a Phone lol

Yeah sorry for not updating my rig specs, I'll do that in a bit. I'm on their chat as we speak right now, but I'm afraid of their RMA process since I've heard it's a complete nightmare.

Get those pictures ready. Yeah everyones RMA process is different.

I had a bad Creative Labs SB ZxR, it was DOA but it was outside the shop's return time limit, low and behold CL sent me a whole bnib card, so i have double of everything but the card.

Edit: They don't...now I'm at the mercy of their RMA process. I just hope it's painless.

I'd suggest a Retail board if XFX (USA) from microcenter, best buy, fry's so you don't have to worry about shipping back
