Asrock's Purity Sound 2 and Fatal1ty mouse port are garbage?

What is the purpose of Fatal1ty USB mouse port? Perhaps i have a faulty motherboard, because if i plug the mouse into the port, nothing happens. Surely any USB mouse should apply?

Purity Sound 2 is supposed to be something special, driving 600 Ohm headphones. Well i have 250 Ohm headphones and it feels like a common Realtek audio chip without an AMP. Also is there supposed to be some kind of Purity Sound 2 menu or application, because non there is, only the same old Realtek HD audio manager...

I believe the amp for your purity sound 2 may be hooked to either rear, or front panel headphone port. ASRock seems to like to alternate. Either way one port usually doesn't have an amp at all.
 
Have you checked any drivers there?

If the audio jack works anything like on my Gigabyte board, there's a semi hidden setting in the drivers (Realtek UI thingie) where you can boost the output. It only work for the headphone jack on my case though, not the rear jack. Note that the Realtek thing has changed in Windows 10 and if you search for Realtek in the start menu you should be able to open it up.
On the other side of the planet at the moment, so I can't grab a screenshot.

Funny how it turned to be - the AMP was neither on the green jack (front speaker) or black jack (rear speaker), it was on the front panel audio extension jack! That was the only place which the Realtek audio manager recognized as headphone output, and it sure boosted the volume appropriately!

I typically don't prefer front audio due possible EMI, but i honestly can not hear any and that's the only way, so i guess Purity Sound 2 works.

As for the Fatal1ty mouse port - i have installed the F-Stream utility, but the mouse would not be recognized anyway. It says that nothing is connected, even though it is.

That's exactly how it works on my Asus X370-F with SupremeFX. You only get the headphone drive through that front jack. From there it detects when they're plugged in and switches it over to headphone mode.

Not a fan of it either. Just seems like adding a longer run of cable between headphone and amp, not to mention laying part of that cable in an EMI minefield.

Pretty annoying, though I've never really looked into the topology of these things. I can't see how it couldn't deliver the same output to the rear jack, not knowing. The only way it makes sense is if it has extra circuitry, like a separate op-amp between the rest of the output circuitry and the front output connector, or maybe an altered output section that changes the impedance/current of an opamp section that also serves the speaker out with a cooler signal, as part of the DAC's output section. Like, off of the back is just a simple DAC implimentation with a basic output section driving line-level for speakers. On the way over to the front jack is the opamp/output section that drives the headphones, which is fed by the same output circuit that feeds the rear directly. Only that one gets that part of the circuit by design. Then, obviously that's a limitation of how they get discreet headphone amplification. Pros and cons if that's the case. Might be easier to get working right than a 'do-all' solution. Or at least ends up being a simpler circuit design to execute. Probably would lead to a much better performing audio section for both speakers and headphones, by giving them dedicated outs.

I don't know what happened, but the Wendel mouse port is now working. No F-stream program needed! I reinstalled Windows due to different reasons, apparently on this install, which harbors the same Windows 10 version, same dirvers and stuff, the port now works. Must have been a glitch...
