Assassin's Creed Valhalla Benchmark Test & Performance Analysis

I hope this is satire and not such a fundamental ignorance of rendering tech for the site owner. Or are we doing "the best graphics are whatever my favourite art style is" thing?
Valhalla can't even properly blend in SSR for water ffs, to say nothing of the much lower texture quality compared to legion, the lower LODs, the worse animations, the lower quality & complexity shadows etc There's literally nothing this game does better than Legion from a tech POV.

New member with generic insults. Hmmmm :wtf:

Oh right, yeah, the benchmark stutters A LOT. Much less stutter if you do two runs back-to-back.

I haven't noticed any significant stuttering in-game

My friend is getting stutter in-game with 1660 Ti MaxQ, 40-56 fps 1080p. The fps monitoring graph shows occasional fps drop to 0 fps. Is it possibly because of Ryzen 3750H (4c/8T)?
But apparently it only happens in the first several minutes after running the game.

Does he have the game installed on SSD or HDD?

Hoolayyy the 1070 is showing its age.

The game looks fucking awful. The lightening is all over the place and the AO is a turd. Hair on most characters is terrible. Landscapes look from a 10 year old game and textures are godawful.

great game and runs a lot smoother compared to Odyssey.

Did not ask, but judging from the initial loading time I think he had it installed on SSD.

Come on! Impressive graphics, my ass. RDR2 is times more detailed and better than this generic mish-mash.

I felt like the graphics are on par with RDR2, with slightly better lighting and shadows.

Yes, some of those effects are "designed", because they know where you'll be moving and which direction you're looking, but many of those are dynamic and not prebaked, so "fair enough".

Nobody cares about gameplay ,mechanics etc.? "combat feels more fluid" that is good thing in my book .Cheers.

I have no stutters in the game but had many in the built in benchmark. I think the benchmark is not a good representation...kind of the same situation as HZD benchmark being way more intense than the game.

Honestly the graphics are IMO the same as Odyssey (which is a compliment). This is indeed one of those games in which screen shots do not portray the game very well.

DID they improve the horses in it much at all ?. Odyssey they were pretty jerky \ glitchy mess of sorts. Don't believe anyone is going beat RDR for those for some time tbh, but as long as they got the kick ass ships in i be happy.

I am pretty pleased with how the 5700xt did. I have zero problems with mine. Game does look nice indeed.

I need to mess around with the settings in legion to see but I put down clouds and fog to lowest it could go and bloom and depth of field not as high not as high on the shadows and I am a solid 60 to 90+ fps in valhalla with my 2080 rtx where as legion I couldn't keep 10 to 30 consistently drops down to 1 fps

I really like the graphics. Visually looks as nice as odyssey. Ive got a weird benchmark issue where i get 30 FPs and its trying to run at 2k. But when i play the game my FPS is 65 on average. Im playing the game maxed out with a 1080TI. Im a huge Assassins Creed fan. Been playing since the first once came out.

Update: I turned volumetric clouds down to Medium, got 67 FPS avg on the bench mark with everything else still maxed out. But the clouds do not effect my actual game play.

Sorry, but that is indeed my opinion. I'm impressed. Not sure what "site owner" has to do with this and why we need insults
I was perhaps too incensed when I replied because it seemed like it was more pushed as fact than just opinion. If it's just you like how ACV looks better than WDL that's fine. This is a very respected site so I like when it's accurately factual, so when it comes to rendering technology it's a situation that can be evaluated objectively. eg RT reflections are obviously more advanced & visually better than than SSR/Cubemaps etc

Graphics also have a tendency to look different in screenshots than they do in game. (Not that they actually look differently, but our brains perceive it differently.)

Nah, I think they look different. Quality usially dumps down by 50% in screenshots IMHO.

While that is certainly true in theory, I tend to disagree. It really depends on how well the level designers use the feature. Have you played AC:V yourself?

Yes, got myself a month of U+ and been going through WD:L first and now AC:V. I love AC more than WD by far but there's some obvious areas where WD is much much more advanced than AC which is struggling very much particularly with far off LODs (in fact, still well below standards established at the beginning of this gen with The Witcher 3), to not name the obvious RTX bonuses, or how much better the shadow system is and close to HFTS in WD:L compared to how basic it is for AC:V. And on and on, hell even the HDR seems a bit more borked in AC than WD, even though in Odyssey & Origins it was an absolute delight.

Yeah I'm noticing more LOD popping in AC than in Watch Dogs. I do like shadows and lighting MUCH better in AC than WD, you seem to disagree?
