ATI Tool not detecting Temperature Monitoring Chip on my X800GT

For a long time I wondered what program I could use to see the temperature of my video card. My buddy told me to download ATItool, so I did, but I have never been able to see what the temperature of my video card was using the ATI tool 0.24. I always wondered why, so then I tried downloading ATI tool 0.25 Beta, but I still had no option to monitor the video card's temperature, until i looked at the Log file:

Log file for ATItool 0.24:

ATITool v0.24 started.
Detected GPU Chip: R423 (554B), 8 Pipelines, 256 MB
Temperature monitoring: chip not detected

Log file for ATItool 0.25 Beta 10

ATITool v0.25 Beta 10 started.
Successfully connected to driver, version 123
Found ATI device: 0x1002 0x554B bus 5 dev 0
fbPhy: 0xD0000000, mmrPhy: 0xFD7F0000.
mmapped mmr to 0xD00000
BIOS at 0xC0000
mmapped bios to 0xD10000
GB_TILE_CONFIG:10017
8 pipes
LM63 temp chip detection: failed (0x0)
F75373 temp chip detection: failed (I2C)
Temperature monitoring: Not detected
Device initialized successfully

As u can see, Temperature monitoring is not available for me, no matter what ATI tool version I use. Can anybody think of a reason why, or a solution to this ?

Thanks in advance :)

Probably the producer of your card economize LM63 chip on the board. Look for it on the front side of the PCB. If you can't find it forget about temp. monitoring. Your R423 (if it is realy R423 - see when remove the cooler to look for LM63) could probably work with 12 instead 8 pipes :D .

It's odd though how other people with the same video card have no problem getting temperature results. My video card is the PowerColor X800GT 256MB 256-bit with the reported R423 Core (but very likely it's the R480 core). So why is it that other people with the same card are able to monitor the video card's temperture using ATItool, or are they using any other 3rd party software that's out there, to monitor VGA temps?

check if your card has a temp sensor ..

If software programs can't detect it you pretty much just have to look for it phsyically, good hunting
