ATIWinflash won't start

Literally just used the program to backup and flash another card, and worked fine. After swapping cards out to flash the next one, ATIWinflash acts like it's going to load but does nothing. Confirmed virus scanner is off. Tried downloading the program again, same result, went through normal resolutions like sfc and such. No other program has any problems. And I also tried cleaning AMD drivers and reinstalling. I checked online and I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar issue. Just incase, yes, I ran it in administrator mode.

Any ideas on a service that might not be running or some other issue here?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a USB drive or separate storage media you can install and run it from other than where you're running from now? Or does it need to be a root install?

Also, read through this if you havent already

I really didn't want to go the USB boot route when I have had 0 problems until now with ATWinflash. I have 10 other cards modded just fine, then ran into this road block.

Could try the two options under the compatibility tabs' Overide Scaling : "Application" or "System". That worked for me I have mine set to Application. It's right above where it says run as administrator.

Same problem here, yesterday it worked just fine, today after updating nothing...

I think the update is the cause. But it's weird because I updated, flashed a card, then couldn't do the next card.

Having the same issue tried many different builds. sapphire rx480 nitro 8gb flashed, but my asus rx480 dual 4gb will not. Cannot get atiwinflash to even open with this card.

Switch versions

Same issue, tried /w 2.77 and 2.74. It used to work but doesnt seem to after the latest windows 10 update.

Same issue, waiting for new version.

To save anyone the time, I've tried disabling driver signature enforcement / defender to no avail.

Event viewer shows:

The atidgllk service failed to start due to the following error:
This driver has been blocked from loading

atidgllk.sys is from 2006.

Nice, although it doesn't work on polaris :(.
Have you tried it? Because I've heard it does. Of course, the guy I heard that from(who's a supposed expert on the subject) also told me ATIWinflash needs to be run as administrator. Which I know for a fact is 100% BS(BTW if you happen to be reading this post too...FU ya DF SA!). So...it wouldn't surprise me if he was full of shit about that too.

Or just flash from DOS with 2.77. ;)

Hi,

Just managed to find this thread.

I have done the USB boot disk with older versions of ATIFLASH but only 2.77 ran but displayed no adapter. The other versions just say it cannot run in DOS mode.

The interesting thing is that I only ever managed to flash ONCE with this PC when I connected only 1 GPU to the motherboard (ASROCK).

I tried to do a fresh installation of windows 10 on another pc to test ATIFLASH but they both came up with the same issues of nothing happening when I typed ATIFLASH.EXE -i to administrator mode. I hope we can find a solution as I got 6 more gpu unmodded. :)

Try other versions.

Follow my links in my signature, especially the AMD flash, it tells you to only flash 1 gpu while installed, you are not using any pcie bus ribbon cables are you?

That was my bad. I had a brain fart when I said use 2.77 from DOS. Sorry about that. AFAIK, the latest version that works from DOS is 4.17(which despite the higher version number is quite a bit older than 2.77).

I will try again with different versions of atiflash downloaded to the USB. I had earlier downloaded 5 versions and named them atiflash1, atiflash2, etc.. only one worked but mentioned no adapter installed.

I am connecting using the risers. Do I need to connect directly onto the PCIe?

Noted. Will try! Appreciate your replies!

I've just bought a RX480 which someone patched for mining. I've tried version 2.77, 2.74 and even 2.67. 2.67 at least says "Cannot find discrete card"
2.67 & 2.77 do nothing.
I have not tried using CMD. So I can't see a way to revert back to an old BIOS.
I even tried 2.77 on my other PC with a Vega 56 and it came up with "Cannot find discrete card"

Perhaps we do need another version released

June 8, just received April update one or two days ago and... same problem. Anyone has a solution? Techpowerup???

Same here … Right click on it, even with admin mode it doesn't work. No error message. Damn.

Yes flash 1 card at a time using the pcie bus directly. Using riswrs tend to be finnicky
