ATIWinflash won't start

Hi, thanks for the help ^^
Sadly atiflash 4.17 doen't run with Win 10 x64 :/

Seems the issue is linked to latest Win update : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...sh-error/21353cdb-1f66-4c64-9995-bbe7d4f1f8c1

It's definitely Windows Update, in my case April. As to 4.17 version - they suggested running it from DOS. I just decided to stop experimenting and reverted to the previous Windows build. After that I was, of course, able to use ATIWinflash again. This is an AMD utility and most certainly they have a soft for flashing their cards. If theirs is (newer and) also affected they would have to find a solution as well. Problem is they didn't/don't post it under AMD software, which is ... well, you know what I mean.

Overall it's incredible how bad some companies react to their own communities and continue to keep their poorly educated and trained "media/pub.rel" reps. Simply incredible. The managers manage to "lead" their teams to Their software development against & not with other software (so, the number of ATIWinflash users is small, hence it can "die" - or - "really, it doesn't work?") As if they have no pool of people to draw from, the planet is empty. Hiding heads in the sand instead of acknowledging a problem and saying "we know... and we will do our outmost..." and "we will keep in touch with our fans and..." is the least they can do. "Acknowledging" became a no-no legal matter, what if they are sued??? Perhaps they should cater to lawyers only then? Ah, why do I care, they probably don't use Techpowerup forums, 'cause they have Their Own! What did they graduate, I don't know, not real life for sure.

I put Win7 on an old harddrive got it up and running and I got it to flash with Dos in windows ...Yep saved my bacon

You got it to flash in Windows 7 with Command Prompt. DOS is a different thing entirely.

This will get fixed...eventually. Everybody just needs to take a chill pill. And if there's some kind of emergency, do what you have to do. It's not impossible. It's just a PITA at the moment.

I bought a Vid card, (Asus RX 580 4 GB) on E-bay...well needless to say it had mining mod bios and I needed it to preform as a gaming card so I had to try and it worked with doing Windows 7 ...
Yeah it is a hassle but it was trying this or sending the card back

Cmd prompt is based upon DOS, the commands from dos work in it

So i am still flashing in win 10 latest.

place atiwinfash in a folder called the same on c:/ (using explorer
Use powershell with admin privileges ,i place the rom in that folder too.
Using power shell redirect to the above file.

Finally use .\ before your flash statement.

I'm sure this works i used it last week??

It's sorta debatable...I guess. It's definitely DOS-like.

I didnt try that command , have you tried force flashing for example my command would be , .\atiflash -f -p 0 ballspleasework.rom

obviously that would be your rom in the same folder as i said :)
